\u2026Charges Members To Resist Intimidation<\/p>\n
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) demands the immediate and
\nunconditional release of our Kwara South Senatorial candidate, Senator
\nRufai Ibrahim and other members of the party framed-up, arrested and
\ndetained by the Police in Kwara state.<\/p>\n
Kola Ologbondiyan, spokesman of the party said “The PDP holds that the
\ncontinued detention of Senator Ibrahim on the eve of a crucial election,
\nin which he is a lead contender, is completely
\nprovocative.<\/p>\n
“The party also cautions the police to stop harassing, arresting and
\ndetaining its members on flimsy charges, as such will directly pitch
\nsecurity agents against the people in a manner that might spark off
\nviolent resistance with regrettable consequences.<\/p>\n
“This resort to police brutality by the APC is a script by a losing team
\nwhich seeks to introduce violence and use the police to execute their
\nrigging plots.<\/p>\n
“Nigerians will recall our vehement protest against the deployment of
\nAsiwaju Bola Tinubu\u2019s lackey, CP Kayode Egbetokun, as Kwara state
\nCommissioner of Police, wherein we alerted of plots by the APC to use
\nhim to incite the people, cause pandemonium and pave the way for
\noutright rigging in favour of President Buhari and all other candidates
\non the platform of APC.<\/p>\n
“However, PDP, in clear terms cautions the APC and their compromised
\nsecurity agents that nobody has the monopoly of show of strength.\u00a0 Our
\nmembers in Kwara or any other state, for that matter, are law-abiding
\nbut will never allow themselves to be subjugated by anybody,
\nparticularly in this critical electoral process.<\/p>\n
“In this regard, our members should immediately activate their individual
\nand collective defence mechanisms by using every legitimate means
\navailable, to resist the aggression of the APC and their compromised
\nsecurity agents as well as dismantle their rigging machinery.<\/p>\n
“We know that the plan of the APC is to stop our members from accessing
\ntheir polling centers. Our members should deploy all legitimate means,
\nincluding lawful self-preservation strategies and tactical maneuvers to
\nbeat the aggression, arrive at their respective polling centers and
\nexercise their voting rights accordingly.<\/p>\n
“The PDP therefore calls on the Inspector General of Police to
\nimmediately call CP Kayode Egbetokun to order. We also call on lovers of
\ndemocracy all over the world to rise in condemnation of this wicked
\nharassment and arrest of our members ahead of a crucial election.<\/p>\n
