President Muhammadu Buhari has warned Nigerians to prepare for tougher
\ntimes in the next four years following his success at the controversial
\nPresidential elections held February 23, 2019.<\/p>\n
Buhari gave the warning when he received members of the Federal Executive
\nCouncil (FEC), who congratulated him over his victory at the presidential
\nelection conducted by the country\u2019s Independent National Electoral
\nCommission (INEC).<\/p>\n
Buhari polled 15,191,847 votes to beat his main opposition candidate,
\nAtiku Abubakar of the People Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 11,262,978
\nduring the keenly contested election last Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy last lap of four years, I think is going to be tough. People are very
\nforgetful and that\u2019s why during the campaign, I spoke about our cardinal
\nagenda.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to him, the next phase of his administration will continue with
\nthe focus on tackling insecurity, fighting corruption and creating jobs
\nfor Nigeria\u2019s teeming youths of the country among others.<\/p>\n
The President said his ability to traverse the 36 states of the country
\nincluding Abuja during the campaigns was proof to the skeptics of his
\nmedical fitness to continue with the rigorous task of governance.<\/p>\n
He said he campaigned sometimes in two states per day, a proof of his
\nsound disposition and readiness to provide leadership for the next four
\nyears.<\/p>\n
Also, at the brief ceremony that started around 12 noon, Secretary to the
\nGovernment of the Federation, Boss Mustapha spoke on behalf of the public
\nservice and congratulated the President and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo
\nfor their victory at the polls.<\/p>\n
According to him, the President\u2019s victory was a well-deserved success as
\nit was a referendum of honesty and sincerity.<\/p>\n
He said that the public service totally aligned itself with the millions
\nof other Nigerians who queued up at the polling units to cast their
\nballots.<\/p>\n
