Peter Obi, has said the outcome of the presidential election must be
\nchallenged in court, boasting that President Mohammadu Buhari is going to
\nbe defeated in Court.<\/p>\n

Obi, who said this at a press conference in Onitsha, Anambra State, argued
\nthat impunity should not be allowed to prevail in the country in the 21st
\ncentury.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cAs law-abiding citizens, the PDP as a party, Atiku Abubakar and
\nmyself, have decided to go to court because of our belief in the rule of
\nlaw.<\/p>\n

\u201cThough elections give citizens a means to hold their leaders accountable
\nby voting incumbents out of office or promising to hold to account those
\nleaders successfully elected, the process is more important than the
\noutcome as the rule of law must always prevail. Thus, the consequences of
\nNigeria without the rule of law will be unimaginable chaos and tyranny.\u201d<\/p>\n

Expressing his confidence in the judiciary, Obi said he appreciated the
\nintervention of well-meaning Nigerians on the issue.<\/p>\n

Concerning those that advised against going to court, Obi said the dilemma
\nof Nigeria was allowing impunity to go unchallenged.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cBesides putting a stop to impunity, such a challenge will also
\ngo a long way in strengthening the electoral processes and in guarding
\nagainst repetition of such dastardly acts in future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Obi, who recalled how he had been on the legal route to reclaim his
\ngovernorship mandate in Anambra State before, called on Nigerians to have
\nfaith in the judiciary as the last hope of the common man.<\/p>\n

He cautioned the Federal Government against witch-hunt of opposition
\nleaders and most especially voters in some parts of the country who voted
\naccording to their conscience.<\/p>\n

Obi said, \u201cTo the young people, millions of whom I came across on our
\ncampaigns across the length and breadth of this country, and who showed
\ngreat enthusiasm and promise for a greater Nigeria, I urge you to troop
\nout on Saturday, March 9 to restate your message of a desire for a better
\nNigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cThough a few have shown by ballot snatching, and violence are still held
\ndown by tribalism and ethnic bigotry, I urge the majority to continue in
\nthe march of the new world order, where all are equal, and Nigeria is
\nunited, secure and prosperous.\u201d<\/p>\n

He thanked Nigerians for their support for the PDP during the elections.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the general conduct of the presidential election, Obi said it
\nwas anything but transparent, free and fair, adding that it fell far below
\nthe standard established by the 2015 presidential poll.<\/p>\n

He added that it was characterised by deliberate voters\u2019 suppression and
\nintimidation throughout the South-East and the South-South, the actions,
\nwhich he described as the highest form of corruption.<\/p>\n

Obi lamented that the two zones under reference witnessed different sets
\nof rules.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cWhile some zones voted strictly using the card readers, other
\nzones, as part of the manipulation orchestrated by the ruling party, the
\nAPC, were allowed to vote without card readers contrary to the guidelines
\nINEC issued before the elections.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
