{"id":65405,"date":"2019-03-11T22:33:51","date_gmt":"2019-03-11T21:33:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=65405"},"modified":"2019-03-11T22:33:51","modified_gmt":"2019-03-11T21:33:51","slug":"buhari-i-want-to-live-a-legacy-of-free-fair-elections-in-nigeria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/buhari-i-want-to-live-a-legacy-of-free-fair-elections-in-nigeria\/","title":{"rendered":"BUHARI: I WANT TO LIVE A LEGACY OF FREE, FAIR ELECTIONS IN NIGERIA"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m5644784700429581191\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Daura declared that he would want to<br \/>\nbe remembered as a leader who kept his word that elections in Nigeria must<br \/>\nbe free, fair and credible.<\/p>\n<p>Receiving Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State, who came to<br \/>\nformally inform him of his election victory in last Saturday\u2019s<br \/>\nGovernorship poll, the President commended Nigerians who heeded to his<br \/>\npre-election appeals to cast their votes peacefully.<\/p>\n<p>The President who described last Saturday\u2019s Governorship and State<br \/>\nAssembly elections across the country as largely successful said:<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018I have maintained a position that elections must be free and fair and<br \/>\npeople have the right to make their choices and vote their consciences. I<br \/>\nam happy they understood the message and did just that.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018Power is a public trust that belongs to the people. Power is not by<br \/>\nstrength or wisdom but by Providence. Elected persons must be fair and<br \/>\njust. This is the legacy I want to leave behind. A leader must be fair and<br \/>\njust.
