The Senator representing the Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the
\nNational Assembly, Magnus Ngei Abe has called on the Minister of
\nTransportation, Rotimi Amaechi and his supporters in Rivers State to stop
\nabusing President Muhammadu Buhari over the predicament of the All
\nProgressives Congress (APC) in the State.<\/p>\n
He said that Nigerians have of course heard and ignored stories of the
\nabuses rained on the President on a daily basis by those who are supposed
\nto be his supporters and promoters in Rivers State.<\/p>\n
Abe in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by his spokesperson, Parry
\nSaroh Benson recalled that during the party\u2019s Presidential campaign in
\nPort Harcourt, not a kind word was said about the President for his
\nnumerous achievements in Rivers State.<\/p>\n
Senator Abe who was reacting to comments on the Director-General of the
\nAmaechi\/Cole campaign, Hon. Chidi Loyd on a live TV programme on Thursday,
\nsaying such habit of blaming everybody for the party\u2019s woes must stop.<\/p>\n
The statement reads, \u201cI was visibly shocked when Hon. Chidi Lloyd, the
\nDirector-General of the Amaechi\/Cole campaign went on Channels TV to
\nopenly abuse the President and blamed President Buhari for the electoral
\nchallenges facing the APC in Rivers State\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is most unfortunate. This habit of blaming everyone else for our
\nwoes must stop immediately. We had a needless and senseless power tussle
\nin the party even when everyone agreed that the minister was the leader,
\nyet that was Senator Abe\u2019s fault, (because Senator Abe has a gubernatorial
\nambition as if there is any member of a political party in Nigeria without
\nan ambition).<\/p>\n
\u201cAPC members in Rivers State went to court for a minor issue that could
\nhave been resolved internally in ten minutes, they were accused of being
\nsponsored by Governor Wike.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe APC leadership went to physically attack the Courts and openly
\ndisobeyed Court orders and the Courts responded by axing the candidates
\nfor being products of that disobedience. The judges were accused of being
\nPDP and working for Wike.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow you have gone into an election for which you are clearly
\nill-prepared, and yet the president gave you everything. Rivers APC had
\nNDDC, Railway, NPA, Shippers Council; Ministry of Transportation, Police,
\nArmy, Air Force, DSS and yet you could not win because the INEC REC is
\nPDP. INEC Chairman is PDP, haba!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNow we are blaming the President, is the President also working with
\nWike? If we had taken time to remind Rivers people of the uncommon love
\nthat Buhari has shown to Rivers people in the Ogoni cleanup, the
\nBodo-Bonny Road, approval for new higher institutions in Rivers State,
\nappointments of our sons and daughters into positions of trust and so on\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Senator further said, \u201cWe would have made more sense to Rivers people
\nthan the failed campaign for personal supremacy by the leader of the party
\nin the state. The president even went as far as risking his reputation and
\nintegrity to support the APC in Rivers State more than any other state in
\nNigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn playing our usual blame game let us leave President Buhari out of it
\nand focus on the real issues facing the party in Rivers State,\u201d Abe
\nstated.<\/p>\n
