Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives
\nCongress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has accused the Chief of Army Staff,
\nLt. General Tukur Buratai and the military high command of plot to kill
\nhim.<\/p>\n
Frank in a statement in Abuja in reaction to an online message designed by
\nthe military in which they accused him of being a \u201cProtagonist of Fake
\nNews\u201d said the real plot by Buratai and the military is to eliminate him.
\nIt is sad to note that the Army under Buratai has degenerated to this
\nabysmal level of partnership.The Army and Buratai have just shown to be
\nthe peddlers of fake news themselves by putting out my name in such a
\nmanner . This I must say portends a great danger to the country.<\/p>\n
He stated that the military is not comfortable with him for constantly
\nrevealing clandestine midnight meetings between Buratai, the Chairman of
\nthe Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and President
\nMuhammadu Buhari, where they plotted to rig the 2019 elections in favour
\nof the APC which they have now done.<\/p>\n
Frank said: \u201cBuratai is after my life for speaking truth to power. I want
\nNigerians and the international community to hold Buratai and the military
\nresponsible should any harm befall me in the years ahead as the army chief
\nhas vowed to bring me down wherever he finds me. But God shall thwart the
\ncounsel of the ungodly.<\/p>\n
\u201cI insist that Buratai and the Chairman of INEC have been holding
\nnocturnal meetings with President Buhari on how to achieve unearned
\nvictory for the APC during the elections which they have now done.<\/p>\n
\u201cLet Buratai tell Nigerians if he ever had any midnight meeting with the
\nPresident and the INEC chair in the run up to the last two successive
\nelections instead of blackmailing and calling me names.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut despite all of this intimidation, harassment, blackmail and name
\ncalling against my person, I remain undeterred. I will continue to expose
\ntheir crimes against Nigerians and the nation\u2019s democratic process by
\nusing its men to subvert the express will and choice of who governs them
\nin favour of highly placed individuals in the governing APC.\u201d<\/p>\n
He noted that European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission, the
\nInternational Republican Institute (IRI), the National Democratic
\nInstitute (NDI) and other foreign and local election monitors, have
\nreported how the elections were hugely marred by military personnel and
\nthis is\u00a0 public knowledge.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cBesides, countless video, audio and photo evidence exist online
\ndetailing some of the heinous atrocities of the military during the
\nelections, yet Buratai and the military want Nigerians to believe that I
\nam a \u201cProtagonist of Fake News\u201d for revealing before hand their plans to
\nhijack the nation\u2019s political and electoral processes in favour of APC.<\/p>\n
\u201cRather than seeking to kill, silence or liquidate me for putting before
\nNigerians and the world information that they have not been able to
\ncontrovert, let Buratai and the military apologize to Nigerians for
\ndeceiving them via fake news and propaganda that Boko Haram had been
\ndefeated, degraded and Sambisa forest liberated.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven little children across Nigeria know that despite the spurious claims
\nby the military, Boko Haram has continued to wax strong and sinister –
\nkilling, maiming, displacing\u00a0 and kidnapping scores of innocent Nigerians
\non a regular basis.<\/p>\n
\u201cApart, from the Northeast states of Borno and Yobe still under incessant
\nattacks from the insurgents, they have extended their theatre of
\noperations to include otherwise peaceful states in the Northwest like
\nZamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and Kaduna.<\/p>\n
\u201cBuratai and the military should apologize\u00a0 to Nigerians for being the
\ngreatest harbinger of fake news and propaganda in the country by spreading
\nwholesale lies
\nthat Boko Haram had been defeated, including the presentation of a fake
\nBoko Haram flag to President Buhari with claims that Sambisa Forest has
\nbeen liberated.<\/p>\n
He called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) to hold to account
\nBuratai and all military personnel found to have engaged in the mindless
\nkilling and maiming of innocent Nigerians in a bid to rig the just
\nconcluded elections in favour of President Buhari and the\u00a0 the APC.<\/p>\n
He also called on the EU and the United States to expedite their promise
\nto place visa restriction on those who promoted or perpetuated violence
\nand rigging during the last elections especially top military personnel,
