Rivers State Governor,\u00a0 Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called on Rivers people to
\nremain calm as the success\u00a0 of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in the
\nMarch 9 Governorship Election would be a sweet victory in the end.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike said that the will of Rivers people will prevail at the end
\nof the day despite\u00a0 the conspiracy against the people of the State.<\/p>\n
He spoke on Friday when members of the National Assembly elected on the
\nplatform of the PDP presented their INEC Certificates of Return to him at
\na ceremony in the Government House,\u00a0 Port Harcourt<\/p>\n
“I know that PDP won the elections squarely. We believe\u00a0 in peace,
\ntherefore Rivers people should remain calm. We believe in due process.\u00a0 I
\nbelieve\u00a0 that INEC is doing their best to follow the due process.<\/p>\n
“In the end, it will be\u00a0 a sweet victory. The will\u00a0 of Rivers people will
\nprevail “, he said.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike described the entire political standoff as a drama which
\nwill end . He said the people of Rivers people voted overwhelmingly for
\nthe PDP in all elections,\u00a0 while the anti-democratic forces attempted\u00a0 to
\nsnatch\u00a0 results at the Collation Centres.<\/p>\n
“Let me thank the people of Rivers State for the love they have shown for
\nour great party.\u00a0 It is not in doubt that Rivers people have shown our
\nparty love. What is happening\u00a0 is sad.\u00a0 It is a drama.<\/p>\n
“We have 13 House of Representatives seats and the PDP clinched all of
\nthem. We have three Senate seats,\u00a0 one has been declared and PDP won. When
\nthe remaining\u00a0 two seats are declared,\u00a0 PDP will win them . Eighty percent
\nof the seats declared,\u00a0 PDP took all.<\/p>\n
“You begin to wonder why any right\u00a0 thinking person would say that PDP
\nlost the governorship election. Not that they say PDP lost to a party with
\na known logo, or even if you have seen the Candidate one day in your life
\nor seen his posters to make people vote for the candidate.\u00a0 For us, it is
\na drama. PDP won the election squarely “, he said.<\/p>\n
He said that across the 4442 Polling Units of Rivers State,\u00a0 the people
\nvoted for the PDP in all the elections.<\/p>\n
He said: “Across 4442 Polling Units the results are there. The PDP won in
\nall these areas.<\/p>\n
“Not when you hijack results\u00a0 at the Collation Centre.\u00a0 When you hijack
\nForm EC 8C, you forget that there is Form EC 8A. Any other party can win
\nin any other state, but not in Rivers States<\/p>\n
“I dedicate\u00a0 this victory\u00a0 to God and the good people of Rivers State who
\nstood firm and said that nobody\u00a0 can manipulate their mandate”, he said.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike urged the elected National Assembly to always place the
\ninterest of Rivers State above other considerations as they represent the
\nstate.<\/p>\n
The Governor said all those who plotted the killings of Rivers people
\nbecause\u00a0 of their desperation to clinch power will face the consequences
\nof their actions.<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the elected National Assembly members,
\nSenator-elect Barry Mpigi said there is no need for anyone to panic\u00a0 as
\nGovernor Wike will be declared\u00a0 winner in line with the votes cast on
\nMarch 9.<\/p>\n
He said Rivers\u00a0 people are with Governor Wike as shown by their votes in
\nall the polling units.<\/p>\n
He said that Rivers people\u00a0 have shown that they love PDP and that the PDP
\nhas shown that it is the party on ground\u00a0 in Rivers State.<\/p>\n
“We have looked round the 23 Local Government Areas and we have seen that
\nthe people of Rivers State voted for you. Don’t panic, the vindication
\nwill come at the appropriate time”, Mpigi said.<\/p>\n
Rivers State PDP Chairman,\u00a0 Bro Felix Obuah said that\u00a0 elected members\u00a0 of
\nthe National Assembly\u00a0 were at the Government House,\u00a0 Port Harcourt\u00a0 as a
\nmark of respect\u00a0 for Governor Wike and in recognition of his support all
\nthrough\u00a0 the electioneering process.<\/p>\n
