{"id":65653,"date":"2019-03-20T19:11:18","date_gmt":"2019-03-20T18:11:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=65653"},"modified":"2019-03-20T19:11:18","modified_gmt":"2019-03-20T18:11:18","slug":"efcc-arraigns-banker-one-other-for-n24m-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/news\/efcc-arraigns-banker-one-other-for-n24m-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC Arraigns Banker, One Other for N24m Fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m5455109110728635098\" class=\"mail-message \">\n<ol>\n<li class=\"mail-message-header spacer\">EFCC Arraigns Banker, One Other for N24m Fraud<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"m4701465060977753996\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<div id=\"m4701465060977753996\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\nThe Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Office, on<br \/>\nWednesday, March 20, 2019, arraigned Olamide Salvador and Richard Olusegun<br \/>\nOlatunji before Justice Sherifat Solebo of the Special Offence Court<br \/>\nsitting in Ikeja, Lagos on a five-count charge bordering on stealing,<br \/>\nforgery and conspiracy to the tune of N24, 183, 120 (Twenty Four Million,<br \/>\nOne Hundred and Eighty-Three Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty Naira).<\/p>\n<p>The first defendant, Salvador, allegedly conspired with the second<br \/>\ndefendant, Olatunji, a manager in Stanbic IBTC, and some others now at<br \/>\nlarge to defraud one Foster Ene of the said sum of money.<\/p>\n<p>One of the counts reads, \u201cthat\u00a0 you, Olamide Salvador, trading under the<br \/>\nname and style of Stringent Global Concept; Richard Olusegun Olatunji<br \/>\ntrading under the name and style as Richard Ventures, Tiwa Onoja (now at<br \/>\nlarge) and Mary Osagie Abiodun (now at large) sometime in December 2016,<br \/>\nin Lagos within the Ikeja Judicial Division, conspired to steal the sum of<br \/>\nN18, 183, 120 (Eighteen Million, One Hundred and Eighty &#8211; Three Thousand,<br \/>\nOne Hundred and Twenty Naira) only property of Foster Ene, being part of<br \/>\nthe money he paid to you to secure the United States Dollars and committed<br \/>\nan offence contrary to Section 409 of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State<br \/>\nof Nigeria, 2011.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another count reads, \u201cthat you, Olamide Salvador, trading under the name<br \/>\nand style of Stringent Global Concept, Tiwa Onoja (now at large) and Mary<br \/>\nOsagie Abiodu (now at large) sometime in December 2016, in Lagos within<br \/>\nthe Ikeja Judicial Division, dishonestly converted to the use of<br \/>\nKenechukwu Okafor, the sum of N6, 000, 000. 00 (Six Million Naira Only)<br \/>\nproperty of Foster Ene, being part of the money he paid to you to secure<br \/>\nthe United States Dollars and committed an offence contrary to Section 278<br \/>\n(1) (b) and (2) (f) of the Criminal Code Law of Lagos State of Nigeria,<br \/>\n2011.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.<br \/>\nIn view of their plea, the prosecution counsel, G.C. Akaogu, asked for a<br \/>\ntrial date and prayed that the defendants be remanded in prison custody.<\/p>\n<p>However, counsels to the defendants, I. T. Oyedepo and Abdulrahman Dirisu<br \/>\nrespectively informed the court of bail applications on behalf of their<br \/>\nclients.<\/p>\n<p>Oyedepo, counsel to Salvador, (first defendant) prayed the court to grant<br \/>\nhis client bail in liberal terms in an application dated March 8, 2019.<br \/>\nDirisu, counsel to Olatunji, (second defendant), also pleaded same for his<br \/>\nclient, pending the determination of the case.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Solebo granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N10,<br \/>\n000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira) and two sureties in like sum.
