Ganduje Was Declared Winner By INEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m-1282125544669432724\" class=\"mail-message \">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"m5822260838064666880\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the<br \/>\nincumbent governor of Kano State and candidate of the All Progressives<br \/>\nCongress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, as winner of the just concluded<br \/>\ngovernorship re-run election in the state.<\/p>\n<p>Declaring the winner of the election, the governorship election Collation<br \/>\nOfficer in Kano, Prof. Bello Shehu, said that the APC candidate garnered<br \/>\n1,033,695, while that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abba<br \/>\nKabir scored 1,024,713 votes.<\/p>\n<p>He said that the APC candidate defeated the PDP candidate with 8,982 votes<br \/>\nmargin and therefore declared Ganduje the winner having satisfied<br \/>\nrequirements of the law by scoring the highest number of votes.<\/p>\n<p>According to Shehu, the winner was declared after the collation of result<br \/>\nfrom all the affected 28 local government areas where the supplementary<br \/>\nelections was conducted on Saturday March 23.<\/p>\n<p>He said Ganduje polled a total of 45,876 while Kabir of the PDP got 10,239<br \/>\nvotes during the last Saturday\u2019s supplementary elections in 28 local<br \/>\ngovernment areas of the state.<\/p>\n<p>News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the governorship election was<br \/>\nearlier declared inconclusive following the high number of cancellation of<br \/>\nvotes as a result of violence and overvoting.<\/p>\n<p>According to the collation officer, the total number of votes cancelled<br \/>\nduring the earlier election which led to the declaration of the poll as<br \/>\ninconclusive was beyond the margin between the PDP candidate who was<br \/>\nleading with 26,000 votes and that of the APC candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Kabir had 1,014,474 against Ganduje who garnnered 987,819 votes in the<br \/>\nMarch 9 election.<\/p>\n<p>NAN further recalled that the votes cancelled during the March 9<br \/>\ngovernorship election was 128,572 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the state\u2019s PDP Chairman, Alhaji Suleiman Rabiu \u2013 Bichi, had<br \/>\nrejected the entire re-run election, especially that of Gama in Nassarawa<br \/>\nLocal Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>The PDP Chairman further described the election processes as shameful and<br \/>\ncalled for the immediate cancellation of the exercise.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the party will not accept the result, therefore refused<br \/>\nto sign it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"conversation-footer\" class=\"spacer\"><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the incumbent governor of Kano State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, as winner of the just&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":65469,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-65755","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-exclusive"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>Kano Election: How Gov.
