{"id":66042,"date":"2019-04-07T17:29:42","date_gmt":"2019-04-07T16:29:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=66042"},"modified":"2019-04-07T23:44:20","modified_gmt":"2019-04-07T22:44:20","slug":"zamfara-killings-fg-suspends-mining-activities-with-immediate-effect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/zamfara-killings-fg-suspends-mining-activities-with-immediate-effect\/","title":{"rendered":"ZAMFARA KILLINGS: FG Suspends Mining Activities With Immediate Effect"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m-6295594940049116879\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<p>Following several killings in <em>Zamfara<\/em> state, the Federal Government has<\/p>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">announced the suspension of all mining activities in the state and other<br \/>\naffected states.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement of the mining suspension was made on the Presidency<br \/>\ntwitter handle @NGRPresident today.<\/p>\n<p>The federal Government also announced that a combined team of the Police<br \/>\nand the Military have started joint security offensive against the bandits<\/p>\n<p>In the face of intelligence reports that have clearly established a strong<br \/>\nand glaring nexus between the activities of armed bandits and illicit<br \/>\nminers \u2013 with both mutually re-enforcing each other, the Federal<br \/>\nGovernment of Nigeria has directed as follows:<\/p>\n<p>1. Mining activities in Zamfara and other affected States are hereby<br \/>\nsuspended with immediate effect.<\/p>\n<p>2. Consequently, any mining operator who engages in mining activities in<br \/>\nthe affected locations henceforth will have his licence revoked.<\/p>\n<p>3. All foreigners operating in the mining fields should close and leave<br \/>\nwithin 48 hours.<\/p>\n<p>The Nigeria Police Force @PoliceNG has commenced, in collaboration with<br \/>\nthe Nigerian Military and other Security Services, \u201cOperation PUFF-ADDER\u201d<br \/>\nwhich is a full-scale security offensive against the bandits.<\/p>\n<p>The operation is aimed at:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; reclaiming every public space under the control of the bandits<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; arresting and bringing to book all perpetrators of violence in the<br \/>\naffected areas, and their collaborators<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; achieving total destruction of all criminal camps and hideouts<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; mopping up all illicit weapons fueling the violence and attaining a full<br \/>\nrestoration of law and order in the affected communities.<\/p>\n<p>Our commitment to protecting the sanctity of life and property is<br \/>\nirrevocable, and we will not scale-down the pressure on the armed bandits<br \/>\nuntil they are totally flushed-out.<\/p>\n<p>We appeal for the cooperation of the local communities, especially the<br \/>\ntraditional and religious leaders within these communities.<\/p>\n<p>We also urge citizens to exercise restraint in circulating unconfirmed<br \/>\ninformation capable of doing more damage to us all.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"conversation-footer\" class=\"spacer\"><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following several killings in Zamfara state, the Federal Government has announced the suspension of all mining activities in the state and other affected states.
