The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Council, Alhaji
\nIbrahim Sulu-Gambari, has described the demise of the renown retired
\nPresident of Appeal Court, Justice Mamman Nasir, as a great loss to the
\nnation.<\/p>\n
The emir in his condolence message signed by the National Secretary of
\nShehu Alimi Foundation for Peace and Development, Mallam Abdulazeez
\nArowona, said “His Lordship, late Justice Mamman Nasir will remain in
\nthe hearts of Nigerians forever.<\/p>\n
The monarch disclosed that late Mamman Nasir was an epitome andembodiment
\nof peace, equity and justice towards ensuring the emergence of a new
\nNigeria through selfless service and placement of national interest above
\nother matters.<\/p>\n
According to him, “He was indeed an incorruptible judicial officer whose
\npenchant for rule of law and fundamental human right was never negotiable.
\nWorking with him at every stages of his life on the bench was a lifelong
\nexperience that could happen to any judicial officer due to his display of
\ngenuine love for the nation as well as providing
\nreliable mentorship platforms for younger generations in a bid to
\nsustaining his good leadership and giving the nation the best judicial
\npractices in years to come.<\/p>\n
“My relationship with him remained cordial even when he retired as the
\nAppeal Court President in 1992 and was turbaned as the Galadiman Katsina
\nwhile I resigned as the Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Lagos
\nDivision in 1995 to ascend throne as the 11th Emir of Ilorin.<\/p>\n
“His contributions to the peace and harmony of the Northern region and
\nNigeria at large cannot be underestimated\u00a0 due to his wise counsel and firm
\nstance on issues of national interest among others. He was a dependable
\nelder-statesman with strong passion for national unity.<\/p>\n
“Late Mamman Nasir will surely be missed by Nigerians who believe in the
\npeace, unity and progress of the nation.”<\/p>\n
The emir therefore condoled with the Katsina Emirate Council, government
\nand people of Katsina State as well as the families of the late retired
\njurist, praying God to give them the fortitude to bear the great loss and
