The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges President Muhammadu Buhari
\nto end his “private visit” abroad and immediately return home to face
\nthe deteriorated security situation in the country.<\/p>\n
According to a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, “The Party
\ndescribes as completely unacceptable for President Buhari to
\npractically abandon his responsibilities, as the Commander-In-Chief,
\nat least for now, to pursue unexplained private matters in foreign
\nlands, while bandits, marauders, and insurgents seize our nation;
\nmaim, kidnap and kill our citizens with reckless abandon.<\/p>\n
“President Buhari\u2019s inattention has emboldened insurgents and bandits
\nto continue to over-run communities, unleash mayhem and bloodletting
\non citizens in Borno, Zamfara, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe Taraba, Kaduna,
\nBenue, Kogi and other states of the federation, including Mr.
\nPresident\u2019s home state, Katsina.<\/p>\n
“While President Buhari wanders abroad, bandits are having a field
\nday, pillaging communities in Katsina state; killing several persons
\nand abducting the District Head of his hometown, Daura, Musa Umar; the
\nfather-in-law of Mr. President\u2019s security aide.<\/p>\n
“Within this period, marauders invaded communities in Adamawa and
\nkilled no fewer than 26 innocent Nigerians; many more have been killed
\nin Borno, Taraba, Benue, and Zamfara states, where bandits also
\nreportedly attacked Government Girls Secondary School Moriki and
\nkidnapped some school girls.<\/p>\n
“While the Buhari administration remains virtually nonchalant,
\nkidnappers have taken over many of our major highways, with hundreds
\nof compatriots held in captivity in forests along Kaduna-Abuja,
\nTaraba-Katsina-Ala and other highways in the country.<\/p>\n
“It is clear that President Buhari has not demonstrated the required
\ncapacity to control the security situation and now resorts to cheap
\nescapism, particularly in the face of allegations in the public space
\nthat certain individuals around his administration are benefitting
\nfrom the situation.<\/p>\n
“This is in addition to allegations that some of the bandits arrested,
\nin states such as Katsina, are not Nigerians but aliens allegedly
\nimported by the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Niger Republic to
\nassist it in unleashing violence and rigging the 2019 general elections.<\/p>\n
“The PDP urges the police to investigate this alleged links.<\/p>\n
“The fact remains that President Buhari has completely failed our
\nnation. In fact, his dereliction to duty is a clear signal that he has
\nbeen practically overwhelmed, deflated and has nothing to offer.<\/p>\n
“The situation in Nigeria today signposts the terrible condition our
\nnation will face if the Presidential mandate is not retrieved at the
\ntribunal to enable competent and uncompromised hands to run the
\naffairs of our country.<\/p>\n
“The PDP, therefore, calls on President Buhari to immediately return
\nhome and use the remaining part of his tenure to seek help instead of
\nwandering abroad under the guise of private visits<\/p>\n
