The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s
\nconfession that anger, frustration, and disenchantment among the
\nyouths are responsible for the escalation of kidnapping, abduction and
\nother crimes in the country, is a direct admission of his failure in
\ngovernance.<\/p>\n

According to a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, “PDP also states
\nthat this explanation confirms that President Buhari is aware that
\nNigerian youths did not vote for him in the February 23 Presidential
\nelection.<\/p>\n

“This self-confession by Mr. President is equally an admission that he
\nhas no solutions, and points to the ugly situation that would continue
\nto confront the nation if the stolen Presidential mandate is not
\nretrieved in the courts.<\/p>\n

“Is it not appalling that at a time when other world leaders are
\nleading their youths to constructive and productive ventures and
\ndeveloping their nations, Nigerian youths are being pushed into
\nsituations of anger, frustration, and recourse to criminality?<\/p>\n

“Under President Buhari, our national economy has continued to slide;
\nover 30 million Nigerians have lost their jobs and basic means of
\nlivelihood; businesses have continued to shut down; the cost of
\nessential goods and services have persistently soared while purchasing
\npower of citizens worsen.<\/p>\n

“It is more disheartening that instead of finding solutions, Mr.
\nPresident resorted to rhetoric and begging the question to the extent
\nof describing criminality as a \u201cnew occupation and a business\u201d.<\/p>\n

“Moreover, Nigerians were shocked at President Buhari\u2019s insensitivity
\nto the victims of the bloodlettings, kidnapping, banditry and other
\nacts of violence in the country when he trivialized and made a joke of
\nthe insecurity in the land by stating that losing weight is a sign
\nthat the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, was effectively
\ntackling the security issues.<\/p>\n

“It is most heartbreaking that at the time President Buhari was making
\na joke on the security situation, bandits were having a field day in
\ncommunities in Zamfara State where they reportedly killed over 50
\nNigerians, while many more compatriots are still held hostage by
\nkidnappers in forests in various parts of our country.<\/p>\n

“Such an attitude to governance, especially on issues that have to do
\nwith the lives of Nigerians, is completely unacceptable and must be
\ncondemned by all.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
