{"id":66799,"date":"2019-05-20T15:12:54","date_gmt":"2019-05-20T14:12:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=66799"},"modified":"2019-05-20T15:12:54","modified_gmt":"2019-05-20T14:12:54","slug":"efcc-confirms-investigating-rochas-okorocha-others-for-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/efcc-confirms-investigating-rochas-okorocha-others-for-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"EFCC Confirms Investigating Rochas Okorocha, others For Fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that<br \/>\nit is investigating Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and some other<br \/>\nNigerians.<\/p>\n<p>Acting chairman of the anti-graft agency, Mr Ibrahim Magu, affirmed this<br \/>\nduring an exclusive interview with Channels Television in London.<\/p>\n<p>Asked if an investigation is ongoing regarding the governor, he<br \/>\nresponded, \u201cdefinitely\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, we are doing a couple of checks and investigations here and<br \/>\nthere. We are investigating almost everybody,\u201d the EFCC boss added.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the commission has to get to a certain level before it can<br \/>\ndisclose any information about an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Magu explained that this was necessary to prevent any action that can<br \/>\njeopardise or interfere with the process of the inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Governor Okorocha is one of the many people being<br \/>\ninvestigated by the commission.<\/p>\n<p>The EFCC boss said although he was aware of reports of the investigation<br \/>\non the social media, the details the anti-graft agency has was different<br \/>\nfrom what was in the public space.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, declined to disclose it.<\/p>\n<p>Magu is in the United Kingdom to meet with investigators assisting the<br \/>\nNigerian government in solving cases of money laundering and financial<br \/>\ncrimes.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Governor Okorocha gave an indication that he was under the<br \/>\nspotlight of the EFCC, saying he is the most investigated governor in<br \/>\nthe country.<\/p>\n<div class=\"yj6qo\"><\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that it is investigating Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and some other Nigerians.
