{"id":67042,"date":"2019-05-30T22:05:22","date_gmt":"2019-05-30T21:05:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=67042"},"modified":"2019-05-30T22:05:22","modified_gmt":"2019-05-30T21:05:22","slug":"lawan-accuses-wealthy-nigerians-of-buying-court-judgement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/lawan-accuses-wealthy-nigerians-of-buying-court-judgement\/","title":{"rendered":"Lawan Accuses Wealthy Nigerians of Buying Court Judgement"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m-6108173193918792264\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\">Senate leader, Ahmad Lawan, has alleged that court judgement in Nigeria<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">are being bought by rich men.<\/p>\n<p>His allegation came barely a week after the Supreme Court voided his<br \/>\nparty\u2019s participation in the 2019 general elections in Zamfara State,<br \/>\nthereby stripping it of all 36 offices including the governorship<br \/>\nposition.<\/p>\n<p>Lawan is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the<br \/>\nposition of Senate President in an election that would take place June<br \/>\n11, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Lawan spoke during the screening of President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s nominee<br \/>\nfor the position of President of Customary Court of Appeal, FCT Abuja,<br \/>\nJustice Abaze Abubakar Sadiq.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOurs is a society where people who have so much money buy judgements,\u201d<br \/>\nLawan said. \u201cI think that is not the type of society that we want\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want a society where those at the lowest line; the vulnerable, the<br \/>\ndisadvantage can go to courts and get judgement because they deserve to<br \/>\nget those judgements regardless of their socio-economic status.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I want to pray for you and for all of us that this nomination that<br \/>\nwe are going to confirm by the grace of God will be a blessing and an<br \/>\nadditional advantage to the judiciary and the l people of this great<br \/>\ncountry,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the magnanimity of the senators to bend some of the rules<br \/>\nfor the speedy confirmation Lawan said: \u201cThis is a very clear<br \/>\ndemonstration of how the three arms of Government can work cordially and<br \/>\nproductively. We have by this action suspended our rules in the interest<br \/>\nof the people of this country and the judiciary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I believe that there is a sense in trying to all the time to ensure<br \/>\nthat we work in a cordial manner.
