The Presidency welcomes endorsement of 2019 Presidential Elections as<\/div>\n
\n
free, fair and credible on Tuesday in Abuja by 60 presidential
\ncandidates and chairmen of their parties, urging opposition to accept
\nloss with grace and maturity.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the press conference of the Joint Forum, the Presidency
\nassures that President Buhari would look into the Electoral Act as the
\ncandidates had advised.<\/p>\n

“We are encouraged by the patriotism of the Presidential Candidates
\nexpressed in clear and matured language. We are convinced that,
\nregardless of our different political persuasions we can work together
\nto improve electoral integrity in Nigeria,” the Presidency added.<\/p>\n

The Presidency said it is in agreement with the Joint Forum that
\n“despite the temporary setbacks experienced at the beginning, INEC
\nmanaged to produce an election in which the voice of the ordinary people
\ncounted. Democracy is founded on the will of the people and INEC did
\nwell to ensure this outcome was achieved in the 2019 elections.”<\/p>\n

The Presidency restates that “the success of democracy does not only
\ndepend on electoral laws, but also on behaviour, character and attitude
\nof politicians.”<\/p>\n

The Presidency reiterates that “do-or-die politics is a threat to the
\nsuccess of electoral laws and democracy. And you don’t need to kill in
\norder to serve the people.”<\/p>\n

The Presidency assures members of the joint forum of the 60 political
\nparties and chairmen of parties that the President will not spare any
\neffort in signing the Electoral Act into law after looking into it.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
