Rivers State Governor,\u00a0 Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that the<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

commencement\u00a0 of Turkish Airlines Flights\u00a0 to the Port Harcourt
\nInternational Airport will lead to greater economic development for the
\nstate.<\/p>\n

Speaking\u00a0 during a ceremony\u00a0 marking the maiden flight of Turkish
\nAirlines to Port Harcourt International Airport on Tuesday,\u00a0 Governor
\nWike said that Rivers State Government is ready to partner with FAAN for
\nmore airlines to operate International flights from the state.<\/p>\n

He said: “We are happy\u00a0 that Turkish Airlines is now operating\u00a0 from the
\nPort Harcourt International Airport.\u00a0 This will positively\u00a0 impact\u00a0 the
\neconomy\u00a0 of the State.<\/p>\n

“Outside\u00a0 Lagos and Abuja,\u00a0 Port Harcourt International Airport should
\nbe the next destination\u00a0 for international flights and other business
\nopportunities.\u00a0 The Rivers State Government is willing to partner\u00a0 with
\nkey stakeholders to ensure that more Airlines\u00a0 operate from the state”.<\/p>\n

He said Rivers State has great economic\u00a0 opportunities\u00a0 that will be
\nbeneficial\u00a0 to investors. He noted that the economy of the state can
\nsustain itself.<\/p>\n

The Governor reiterated his approval\u00a0 for the dualisation\u00a0 of the road
\nleading\u00a0 to the Port Harcourt International Airport,\u00a0 saying\u00a0 that
\nengineers of the State Ministry of Works took road measurements\u00a0 on
\nTuesday.<\/p>\n

Senior Vice President of Turkish Airlines,\u00a0 Mr Karem Sarp said that the
\nPort Harcourt route is the 324 destination of the Airline in 124
\ncountries.\u00a0 He informed that it is the\u00a0 57th destination in Africa.<\/p>\n

He said that Turkish Airlines is committed\u00a0 to improving social and
\neconomic connections\u00a0 in different\u00a0 parts\u00a0 of the world.<\/p>\n

“We are recognised for our unique flight services.\u00a0 We will continue to
\ngrow and this is an important destination”, he said.<\/p>\n

He said that the Port Harcourt route will link India, United States,
\nChina and other important global\u00a0 destinations.<\/p>\n

Managing Director of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria,\u00a0 FAAN, Group
\nCaptain Usman Sadiq said that the Port Harcourt International Airport
\ndeserves more flights. He said FAAN\u00a0 will continue\u00a0 to work towards more
\nflights\u00a0 for the state.<\/p>\n

Nigerian Ambassador to Turkey,\u00a0 Mr Audu Paragalda said the new
\ndestination\u00a0 will improve relations\u00a0 between Turkey and Nigeria.<\/p>\n

The General Manager of Turkish Airlines Lagos\/Port Harcourt,\u00a0 Mr Yunus
\nOzbek thanked the Rivers State Government\u00a0 and FAAN for creating\u00a0 the
\nopportunity\u00a0 for Turkish Airlines to operate from Port Harcourt.\u00a0 He
\nassured that the Airlines will live up to the expectations\u00a0 of the
\npeople.<\/p>\n

The event witnessed\u00a0 the exchange of gifts between\u00a0 the Rivers State
\nGovernment\u00a0 and the management of Turkish Airlines.<\/p>\n

The maiden flight\u00a0 of Turkish Airlines at the Port Harcourt
