President Muhammadu Buhari has begun consultations for an inclusive<\/div>\n
\n
stakeholder committee that will thoroughly interrogate issues that fuel
\ncommunal conflicts across the country, with a mandate to proffering
\nlasting solutions to age-long disagreements that have claimed lives and
\nproperty, according to a statement signed by Garba Shehu.<\/p>\n

“With particular focus on the Tiv\/Jukun relationship in Benue and Taraba
\nStates, the President is disturbed by communal clashes that have
\ndestroyed many lives and property, altered the destinies of families,
\nand raised the profile of insecurity in the country by promoting
\ngenerational tensions.<\/p>\n

“The committee, which will work with the Office of the Secretary to the
\nGovernment of the Federation, will include traditional rulers, religious
\nbodies, (specifically the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN and the
\nSupreme Council for Islamic Affairs), age groups, market\/farmer\/hunters
\nassociations, local and state government officials, and relevant
\nsecurity agencies.<\/p>\n

“President Buhari believes Nigeria’s cultural diversity remains her
\ngreatest strength when properly harnessed and harmonized with a
\ncollective vision for unity, peace and shared prosperity, urging more
\npatience as the government identifies and works towards creating more
\nunderstanding.”<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
