A political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of
\nthe All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has reacted to
\nthe judgement of Supreme Court on the Osun State governorship tussle
\nwhich favoured Isiaka Oyetola, saying that democracy and judiciary are
\nbeing bled under Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n
Frank said that the rule of law has been replaced\u00a0 with the rule of
\nforce, intimidation and blackmail under the current administration.<\/p>\n
Frank in a statement shortly after the apex court’s verdict on Friday
\nsaid: “The Supreme Court’s ruling on the Osun State gubernatorial
\npetition is not surprising because the judgement was already in public
\ndomain long before it was read because the Justices that decided the
\ncase had been compromised by APC’s and General Buhari’s government
\nthrough outright blackmail, coercion, threats and intimidation.<\/p>\n
“Nigerians do not need a soothsayer or a prophet to know who the actual
\nwinner of the Osun State Governorship election is. This judgement
\ngranting victory to the candidate of the APC is nothing but a day light
\nrobbery against the people of Osun state and by extension Nigeria.<\/p>\n
“It is for this reason that the Supreme Court did not take the
\nConstitution into consideration but preferred to use technicalities.
\nShame to the Supreme Court Justices for this laughable judgement!<\/p>\n
Was it the fault of the petitioner that Justice Peter Obiora was absent?
\nWhy should the petitioner Senator Ademola Adeleke pay for the absence of
\nJustice Obiora?<\/p>\n
An illegal government has today been forced on the people of Osun State
\nby the Supreme Court. This is a disgrace to the judiciary and it is
\nabominable that the Supreme Court allowed itself to be used to legalize
\nthis illegality.”<\/p>\n
The political activist, however, called on Nigerians to be vigilant and
\npay more attention to the Presidential Election Tribunal which he
\nbelieves will end up at the Supreme Court so as not to allow a similar
\nmiscarriage of justice that just happened in Osun state to repeat itself
\nin the presidential election petition.<\/p>\n
“We have it on good authority that\u00a0 the APC is putting pressure on the
\nSupreme Court to use similar technicalities to throw out the
\npresidential election petition when it gets to them. They also plan to
\ndo the same in Sokoto and Kano states.<\/p>\n
“I call on the youths and Nigerians in general to rise up to the
\noccasion and tell General Buhari and his illegitimate government that
\nthey will not accept any form of\u00a0 injustice that may take\u00a0 place in the
\npresidential election petition.<\/p>\n
“The Supreme Court Justices must shun any form of inducement, coercion,
\nblackmail, intimidation or threats to their lives and families, by Gen.
\nBuhari and his APC gang to rule in their favour, as everybody know the
\ntrue winner of the presidential election, otherwise Nigerians will hold
\nthe Supreme Court Justices responsible.<\/p>\n
“The Supreme Court Justices should bear in mind that the future of
\nNigeria is at stake, this is about Nigeria and not the Supreme Court
\nJustices as the international community and all Nigerians are watching
\nand hoping that they will stand by the truth.<\/p>\n
“This is the time for the Supreme Court Justices to make history by
\nborrowing a leaf from the Kenyan Supreme Court and decide the rightful
\nwinner of the 2019 presidential election,” Frank said.<\/p>\n
