Nigeria\u2019s opposition People\u2019s Democratic Party Tuesday told the
\nPresidential Election Tribunal that its presidential candidate, Atiku
\nAbubakar, defeated President Muhammadu Buhari, in his home state,
\nKatsina State.
\nSalisu Maijigiri, who is the PDP\u2019s state chairman in Katsina and was the
\nparty\u2019s collation agent in the state, said the results declared by the
\nIndependent National Electoral Commission were untrue.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe (PDP) are the one who won the election, not APC. APC scored 872,000
\nand PDP scored, 905,000,\u201d Maijigiri told the tribunal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are our own results, we collated in our state not the ones from
\nthe server,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The electoral body had declared that Buhari polled 1,232,133 votes to
\nbeat his closest challenger Abubakar who had 308,056 votes.<\/p>\n

The difference between both candidates was of 924,077 votes with Buhari
\nwinning in all the 34 local government areas in the state.<\/p>\n

Abubakar and his party, have their petition challenging the victory of
\nBuhari and the All Progressives Congress at the poll filed before the
\nfive-man tribunal led by Justice Mohammed Garba.<\/p>\n

They had tendered the form with a view to establishing their petition
\nagainst Buhari on his qualification for the last presidential election.<\/p>\n

The party also tendered the final result of the election, signed by the
\nINEC chairman, Prof. Yakubu Mahmood. This was admitted as exhibit.<\/p>\n

Also tendered and admitted as exhibits were documents containing the
\ntotal number of voters in INEC\u2019s register and the number of collected
\npermanent voter cards for the election.<\/p>\n

Abubakar\u2019s lead counsel, Dr. Livy Uzoukwu, equally tendered six
\nnewspapers publications and 10 press statements issued by INEC in
\nrespect of the election.<\/p>\n

So far, about 6,806 election result sheets from Kano and Zamfara States
\nwere tendered and admitted by the tribunal in evidence.<\/p>\n

Abubakar and the PDP thereafter began calling witnesses on Monday to
\ntestify to allegations of election malpractices, corruption,
\nirregularities and violence in the conduct of the election that produced
\nBuhari as president.<\/p>\n
