{"id":67585,"date":"2019-07-09T20:12:33","date_gmt":"2019-07-09T19:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=67585"},"modified":"2019-07-09T20:12:33","modified_gmt":"2019-07-09T19:12:33","slug":"shiite-police-clash-dont-dare-us-police-warns-shiites-igp-orders-24hrs-surveillance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/shiite-police-clash-dont-dare-us-police-warns-shiites-igp-orders-24hrs-surveillance\/","title":{"rendered":"Shi&#8217;ite\/Police Clash: Don&#8217;t Dare Us, Police Warns Shi&#8217;ites, IGP Orders\u00a0\u00a0 24hrs Surveillance"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m3610277152169472895\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-header spacer\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered a<br \/>\n24hrs surveillance of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja,<br \/>\nwarning members of the Shi&#8217;ite movement not to dare the police resolve<br \/>\nto maintain peace in the capital city.<\/p>\n<p>This is coming after a clash between the Police and members of the<br \/>\nShi&#8217;ite movement at the National Assembly complex, Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>A statement signed by Frank Mba, Force headquarters spokesman, said<br \/>\nthe IGP has directed maximum security and avert breach of public<br \/>\nsafety and security.<\/p>\n<p>The statement reads:<\/p>\n<p>Following the violent protest by members of the El-Zakzakky Group,<br \/>\ntoday, 9th July, 2019, at the National Assembly, Abuja, which led to<br \/>\nthe unprovoked assault on and injury to Police personnel on lawful<br \/>\nduty as well as willful damage to public properties, the Inspector<br \/>\nGeneral of Police, IGP M.A Adamu, NPM,mni has ordered a 24hr Police<br \/>\nsurveillance in the FCT and its environs. Similarly, the Commissioners<br \/>\nof Police and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors General of Police<br \/>\nin States contiguous to the FCT were also placed on the alert to<br \/>\nensure maximum security in their respective Areas of responsibility<br \/>\n(AOR) to avert any possible breach of public safety and security.<\/p>\n<p>While noting that the Force is not against Citizens expressing their<br \/>\ngrouse against the State, the IGP stressed that such ventilations must<br \/>\nbe done through legitimate and acceptable processes and not by taking<br \/>\nthe laws into their own hands. He therefore warned that citizens<br \/>\nshould not test the collective will of the People and the State by<br \/>\nengaging in lawless acts likely to cause the breach of the peace.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the IGP has ordered a speedy and diligent investigation<br \/>\ninto the incident as well as prompt prosecution of all the persons<br \/>\narrested and now in Police custody in connection with the incident.<\/p>\n<p>The IGP reiterated his displeasure with the unwarranted and<br \/>\nunjustifiable attack on, and injury to nine (9) Police Officers by<br \/>\nmembers of the El-Zakzakky Group and commended the restraint, maturity<br \/>\nand professionalism displayed by Police personnel in containing the<br \/>\nprotest.
