The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the appointment of a
\nformer House of Representatives member from Anambra State, Hon Anayo
\nNebe by the Speaker, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila as his Special Assistant,
\nSouth East.<\/p>\n

A press release by the Conference of APC State Publicity Secretaries,
\nSouth East Zone in Awka, Anambra State Capital lamented that the speaker
\nwas favouring non members of the party, against those who worked for his
\nemergence.<\/p>\n

Nebe, the former lawmaker who represented Awka North and South Federal
\nConstituency is a member of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
\nwhere he had contested to retain his seat.<\/p>\n

A press release signed by the five publicity secretaries of the south
\neastern states read, “We reject the appointment of Hon. Anayo Nebe as
\nSpecial Assistant (South East) to the Speaker of the Federal House of
\nRepresentatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila.<\/p>\n

“Rt. Hon. Nebe is a dare-devil opposition to APC in Anambra State, the
\nSouth East Zone and Nigeria in general. He is instrumental to APC seat
\nto Awka Federal Constituency elluding our party, even though he lost
\nalso.”<\/p>\n

The release which was signed by Kate Offor (Enugu), Chika Nwoba
\n(Ebonyi), Benedict Godson (Abia), and Okelo Madukaife (Anambra) read
\nfurther, “Political positions in the ruling party should not serve to
\nrehabilitate oppositions who cause damage to our party’s fortunes.<\/p>\n

“Registering in future with APC is not even an incentive because ‘the
\nsun must first shine on those standing before those kneeling’.”<\/p>\n

The group said its understanding of the move was that the South West
\nCaucus of APC from where Gbajabiamila hails was working with opposition
\nto undo APC in the South East, for an unknown reason, and that such
\nattitude was highly objectionable to it.<\/p>\n

The group said, “One thought that Gbajabiamila rode to power as speaker
\non the plank of ‘good and consistent party man’. At least that was the
\nmessage in the trumpet. Where are other good party men in the South
\nEast?<\/p>\n

“The Senate President made a similar error and promptly corrected it
\nwhen issues were raised and there ought to be enough deterrent flowing
\nfrom there.<\/p>\n

“We have nothing against Rt. Hon Nebe but our zonal caucus has to grow
\nand it is not by appointing PDP men in APGA clothing, to the detriment
\nof the long – suffering members of APC.<\/p>\n

“We would be interested in knowing why Adams Oshiomhole, National
\nChairman of our great party and Bola Ahmed Tinubu who rewards dedication
\nin the South West were consulted and they allowed this to fly.<\/p>\n

“We dissociate ourselves from this appointment and urge South East APC
\nto rise in justifiable protest against this unjustifiable action.”<\/p>\n
