The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC,<\/div>\n
\n
Ibrahim Magu, has received an “Excellent Performance” award, praise and
\ncommendation as “a dogged fighter and patriotic Nigerian, whose legacy
\nwould never be forgotten.”<\/p>\n

These came on Thursday, July 18, 2019, from the out-going members of
\nAnti-corruption Community Development Service (ACCDS) of the National
\nYouth Service Corps, (NYSC), Kwara State, led by its president, Emmanuel
\nMordi.<\/p>\n

According to Mordi, who presented the award to Magu through EFCC’s Head,
\nIlorin Zonal Office, Mr Isyaku Sharu, “We sat down together to review
\nyour efforts and after we looked at all your achievements across the 36
\nstates of the federation, including Kwara State, our club, the
\nAnti-corruption Community Development Service, and all our members
\nagreed that you should be given this, having considered you as a man of
\nhonour.”<\/p>\n

Speaking further, Mordi declared that “Without being told, Nigerians and
\nthe international community are aware that the country has recorded huge
\nsuccesses in the fight against corruption, they know that we are making
\nprogress.”<\/p>\n

The ACCDS president observed that the group had been doing well in the
\narea of public sensitization on the dangers of corruption on the future
\ngeneration of Nigerians via radio and television.<\/p>\n

Receiving the award on behalf Magu, Sharu, thanked the members of the
\nNYSC for the gesture.<\/p>\n

“All of you are my younger brothers and sisters. I must commend you for
\ncoming with this surprise. The Commission would partner with you. On
\nyour Own, you go for advocacy programmes on radio and television
\nstations, and other places. This shows that you are partnering with us,”
\nSharu stated.<\/p>\n

While urging youth corps members to strive to be self-reliant after
\nservice, Sharu said, “I want to tell you that outside there, it’s not
\nall that easy. This underscores the need for you to have something doing
\nand know that people could succeed in doing business too, is all about
\nmindset and knowing what you are doing.”<\/p>\n

In a related development, Magu charged Nigerian youth\u00a0 to stay away from
\nall forms financial\u00a0 crimes,\u00a0 particularly internet fraud. He stated
\nthis on Friday, July 19, in Ilorin,\u00a0 the Kwara State capital\u00a0 while
\nreceiving\u00a0 the executive\u00a0 members of the\u00a0 \u00a0Nigerian\u00a0 Youth Parliament
\nwho came on a courtesy\u00a0 visit\u00a0 to the Ilorin\u00a0 Zonal Office\u00a0 of the
\nCommission.<\/p>\n

The EFCC boss who was represented by Sharu, noted that the menace of
\ninternet fraud and other fraud related offences was a serious one for
\nthe society, noting that “it takes investors away from the country. We
\nmust come together to fight it. You are part and parcel of the system.
\nYou must contribute your quotas in the ongoing fight against corruption.
\nYou can only get justice, fairness and equality where corruption does
\nnot strive. We are here to arrest and prosecute offenders but you are
\nthe one that interact with the people, that is where issue of
\npartnership comes in.”<\/p>\n

Magu further stated that he was more interested in fraud prevention.<\/p>\n

“The advocacy starts now. I feel pain when I am talking of internet
\nfraud. Youth want to make it at all cost. You must not go into crimes.
\nIf you want to live in peace, you must live within the provisions of the
\nlaw,” Magu said.<\/p>\n

Leader of the Nigerian Youth\u00a0 \u00a0Parliament, Hon Abdulkareem Abdulkareem
\ncommended the EFCC boss for his efforts in the anti-corruption fight in
\nthe country.<\/p>\n

“We appreciate your efforts for making Kwa<\/em>ra State to be free of<\/div>\n

corruption. We are here to pay you a solidarity visit; we want to
\npartner with you. We thank you for helping us to redeem the image of
\nKwara State.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
