Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje alongside Igbo leaders in Kano,
\nhas rejected calls by some Northern political leaders that Fulani
\nherdsmen in the Southern part of the country relocate to the North.
\nThe leaders said at a dinner in Kano that the call was \u201cdivisive and
\nretrogressive.\u2019\u2019\u200e

\nAccording to a \u200estatement issued by Ganduje\u2019s Chief Press Secretary,
\nMalam Abba Anwar on Sunday in Kano, the governor and Eze Ndi Igbo Kano,
\nIgwe Boniface Igbokwe reacted at a dinner organised by the governor in
\nhonour of Igbokwe on his 10th Offalla anniversary.<\/p>\n
\u201cThose who are calling on the Fulani to leave South, we don\u2019t share the
\nsame feeling with them.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople have a choice as far as the Nigerian constitution is concerned,
\nto live wherever they chose to.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut they must respect laws and cultures of those they are living
\nwith,\u2019\u2019 Ganduje said.\u200e<\/p>\n
Ganduje said that Nigeria is a heterogeneous society with different
\nreligions and nationalities, adding that this calls for mutual respect
\namong the different people.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we are all creatures of Allah, it is duty-bound on all of us to
\nalways respect Allah\u2019s creatures. No two way about it,\u201d he added.\u200e<\/p>\n
He insisted that the issue of Fulani moving from one place to another
\nshould be stopped.<\/p>\n
\u201cHerders should drop the cultural attachment to their rearing activities
\nand make their rearing become economically beneficial.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is with this singular reason that I called on the Federal Government
\nto put a halt to the ever-increasing movement of herders from one state
\nto another.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is because we want to bring out economic benefit out of the whole
\nexercise that we inaugurated a RUGA Settlement Committee in Kano.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is fundamentally to run away from the insecurity posed by the
\nherders\/farmers clashes everywhere,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
The governor said that the major problem of herders was education
\nbecause they were not settled in one place for them to get educated.<\/p>\n
