Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that his
\nadministration will continue to promote\u00a0 access to justice and the
\nindependence of the judiciary.<\/p>\n
The Governor also distributed vehicles to newly sworn-in magistrates,
\nsaying that his administration will\u00a0 always create the right environment
\nfor the dispensation of justice.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Tuesday during the presentation of the vehicles\u00a0 to the new
\nmagistrates, Governor Wike said that all the arms of Government should
\nwork together to develop the\u00a0 State.<\/p>\n
He said: “You know that as magistrates of the Rivers state judiciary,
\nthere are certain standards of comfort that are expected of them. I
\ndoubt\u00a0 if you expect them to be running around in taxis and all the
\nrest. The need\u00a0 for effective dispensation of justice require\u00a0 that some
\nof these basic facilities should be available to them.<\/p>\n
“So in terms of these vehicles, it is to make sure that as they start
\nwork, they are doing so with every necessary facility for the discharge
\nof their responsibilities”<\/p>\n
He noted that it is necessary\u00a0 to ensure that officers of all the arms
\nhave the right facilities\u00a0 to discharge\u00a0 their duties.<\/p>\n
“It was done for Judges, it has been done for the previous magistrates.
\nThese eleven new magistrates, were just sworn in about a month ago. So,
\nit is something that happens normally at all times, for all arms of
\ngovernment”, he said.<\/p>\n
Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Adama Iyaye-Laminkara expressed
\ngratitude to Governor Wike for the approval for the appointment of new
\nmagistrates and the release of new vehicles to them.<\/p>\n
She thanked the Rivers State Governor for his commitment to the
\nprovision of financial and infrastructural support to the State
\nJudiciary for the smooth dispensation of justice.<\/p>\n
The Chief Judge assured Governor Wike that the new magistrates will
\ndischarge their duties in line with the constitution.<\/p>\n
Speaking on behalf of the new magistrates, Adango Comfort pledged to
\ncarry out their responsibilities, saying that they will live up to the
\nexpectations of the Government and people of Rivers State.<\/p>\n
