The Vice Presidential, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has called on members of the<\/div>\n
\n
All Progressives Congress (APC), Anambra state chapter to be united and
\nwork for common purpose and progress of the party in the state.<\/p>\n

Osinbajo made the call during his Interactive Roundtable with
\nstakeholders of the state APC in Awka on Friday.<\/p>\n

He said the poor performance of the party in Anambra in the recent
\ngeneral election was attributed to the lack of synergy between party
\nleadership and the grassroots.<\/p>\n

He said victory of APC in the 2021 governorship election in Anambra
\npossible project which could be realised if members works collectively
\nand in unity.<\/p>\n

Osinbajo said a major problem in Anambra APC was because people refused
\nto join the party because they thought it was a regional party while
\nthose who joined did so for selfish reasons<\/p>\n

He said President Muhammadu loved Anambra given his numerous projects in
\nthe state while assuring them they would always get what was due to them
\nincluding appointments under this adminstration.<\/p>\n

“We don’t need to deceive ourselves, we need ask ourselves question, how
\ncome Anambra got the least votes in South East and second least in the
\nfederation, how come we could not elections from state to federal .<\/p>\n

“It shows there no unity among party leadership, it is crucial to our
\nsuccess.<\/p>\n

“I have come to open a new chapter for APC in Anambra, we can win
\ngovernorship here, we can be number one but we have to be united,” he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n

The VP advised members of the party to mobilise their members
\nstrategically for them to benefit from the various federal government
\nintervention programmes like N-Power and Government Enterprise and
\nEmpowerment\u00a0 Programme(GEEP).<\/p>\n

He said beneficiaries of NPower were not selected on the basis party
\nmembership but Nigerians.<\/p>\n

In his address, Chief Basil Ejidike, chairman of APC in Anambra said the
\nparty is strong in the state with no fewer than 250, 000\u00a0 registered
\ncard carrying members.<\/p>\n

Ejidike said APC suffered in the state because lack of appointment of
\nmembers by the federal government and absence of support from the
\ncentre.<\/p>\n

He said federal government intervention programmes like N-Power and
\nGovernment Enterprise and Empowerment programme (GEEP) have been
\nhijacked by the APGA led government in Anambra and APC members were not
\nbenefiting.<\/p>\n

He expressed pain that people in other parties who worked and voted
\nagainst APC were being rewarded with few contracts and appointments that
\nshould have gone to party members.<\/p>\n

He further registered the protest of APC against the appointment of
\nChief Anayo Nebe, candidate of APGA for House of Representative in the
\nlast election as Special\u00a0 Adviser(Political) South East by Hon. Femi
\nGbajabiamila.<\/p>\n

“Sir it may interest you to know that the federal government school
\nfeeding project in Anambra has been hijacked by APGA led administration,
\nthe cooks, food contractors and other benefits of this programme are
\nbeing enjoyed members of opposition APGA.<\/p>\n

“We cry for a reward system that recognises hard work, commitment and
\nparty loyalty, we humbly appeal for special intervention scheme be
\nworked out especially now that the governorship election is around the
\ncorner,” he said.<\/p>\n

Ejidike urged the vice president to help galvanise the leadership of the
\nparty in the state to address the issue of disunity within the ranks of
\nAnambra APC.<\/p>\n

He said if the grassroots level of the party is linked to the centre,
\nthe next governorship election would be a walkover for the APC.<\/p>\n

In his remark, Dr chris Ngige, leader of the party in Anambra urged the
\nstakeholders to keep faith APC as their grouses would be addressed.<\/p>\n

Ngige said the 2021 governorship election is a task which must be
\naccomplished as there was immense benefit in having a party member as
\ngovernor<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
