The commitment to transparency and accountability by the new NNPC management, led by\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Mallam<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Mele Kyari has continued to attract commendation and support for the Corporation<\/span><\/span>\u00a0as the Nigeria Extractive Industries and Transparency Initiative, NEITI has expressed absolute faith in the \u00a0ability of the new Group Managing Director to turn around the fortunes of the Nigerian petroleum industry.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>GMD<\/span><\/span>\u00a0in Abuja yesterday, Mr.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Waziri<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Adio<\/span><\/span>, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries and Transparency Initiative, NEITI\u00a0<\/span><\/span>and Coordinator, EITI implementation in Nigeria,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>expressed confidenc<\/span><\/span>e in the ability of the new Man<\/span><\/span>age<\/span><\/span>me<\/span><\/span>nt to transform the corporation for the good of the country.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span><\/span>we<\/span><\/span>\u00a0have extreme faith in the new management, we are ready to work with NNPC one thousand per cent, we are working together for the good of<\/span><\/span>\u00a0the country\u2019\u2019, the NEITI chief<\/span><\/span>\u00a0said.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He said, based on\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Kyari\u2019s<\/span><\/span>\u00a0credentials and antecedent,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/span>he is somebody who brings something to the table, something that is not usually associated\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>this\u00a0<\/span><\/span>institution<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0that<\/span><\/span>\u00a0is transparency\u2019\u2019.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mr.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Adio<\/span><\/span>\u00a0assured that from the goodwill that has trailed the NNPC in the last one month, the corporation would be repositioned<\/span><\/span>,<\/span><\/span>\u00a0and in no time,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u201cI<\/span><\/span>t would\u00a0<\/span><\/span>be mentioned in the same light as its peers all over the world\u2019\u2019.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The executive secretary however advised the management to be proactive by making information on all its transactions, especially crude oil lifting contracts and contractors available to the public.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On his part, the Group Managing Director of the NNPC,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Mallam<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Mele Kyar<\/span><\/span>i said his management\u00a0<\/span><\/span>recognized<\/span><\/span>\u00a0the primacy of NNPC to the Nigerian economy and its impact thereof.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He said the corporation had<\/span><\/span>\u00a0nothing to hide, adding that\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/span>transparency impacts performance positively, our commitment\u00a0<\/span><\/span>to<\/span><\/span>\u00a0the principles of transparency and accountability is unwavering\u2019\u2019,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>the<\/span><\/span>\u00a0GMD assured.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Continuing, Kyari commended President Muhammadu\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Buhari<\/span><\/span>, saying\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/span>we are fortunate that we have a President who believes that we must be accountable, he does not interfere with the running of the NNPC\u2019\u2019 while thanking the NEITI team for its support<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
