{"id":68270,"date":"2019-08-08T13:33:09","date_gmt":"2019-08-08T12:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=68270"},"modified":"2019-08-08T13:33:09","modified_gmt":"2019-08-08T12:33:09","slug":"revolutionnow-court-grants-dss-leave-to-detain-sowore-for-45-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/revolutionnow-court-grants-dss-leave-to-detain-sowore-for-45-days\/","title":{"rendered":"#RevolutionNow: Court Grants DSS Leave To Detain Sowore For 45 Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"gs\">\n<div class=\"\">\n<div id=\":p8\" class=\"ii gt\">\n<div id=\":sl\" class=\"a3s aXjCH \">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div>\n<p>The Federal High Court, on Thursday, granted leave to the Department of State Security Service (DSS), to detain the convener of #RevolutionNow protests, Omoyele Sowore, for 45 days.<\/p>\n<p>According to the vacation judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, the order takes effect from Thursday, Aug. 8.<\/p>\n<p>The judge gave the order in a ruling on an application by the DSS seeking an order to detain Sowore for 90 days pending the conclusion of its investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Sowore, who is the publisher of Sahara Reporters and Presidential Candidate, African Action Congress (AAC) in the Feb. 2019 general elections, was arrested in the early hours of Aug. 4 by the operatives of the DSS in a hotel in Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>He was moved to Abuja on Aug. 4.<\/p>\n<p>The state agency said Sowore was arrested on account of the #RevolutionNow protest which he had spearheaded.<\/p>\n<p>It claimed Sowore\ufffc met with IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu and connived with Shi\u2019ites group to cause mayhem in the country.<\/p>\n<p>There were, however tight security around the court with officers of the Nigerian police stationed at strategic places.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"yj6qo\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"yj6qo\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"yj6qo\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"hi\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal High Court, on Thursday, granted leave to the Department of State Security Service (DSS), to detain the convener of #RevolutionNow protests, Omoyele Sowore, for 45 days.
