The peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has asked President Mohammadu Buhari
\nand the All Progressive Congress, APC, to focus on the insecurity in the
\ncountry instead of attempting to invent allegations against former Vice
\nPresident Atiku Abubakar.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP said while Buhari and
\nAPC have failed at the Presidential Election Appeal panel, they are
\ndesperately trying to invent criminal charges against the PDP
\nPresidential Candidate.<\/p>\n
The statement reads:<\/p>\n
The attention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to
\nyet another pitiable and disgraceful press statement by the discomfited
\nAll Progressives Congress (APC) wherein it once again resorted to
\nfabrications, insults and attempts to invent allegations against the
\npeoples\u2019 candidate, Atiku Abubakar.<\/p>\n
Our party, for the umpteenth time, urges the Buhari Presidency and the
\nAPC to leave Atiku Abubakar alone and face their self-inflicted
\nresentment from Nigerians by answering for their misrule for which
\ncompatriots have now become agitated on all fronts.<\/p>\n
The PDP says it is despicable that the Buhari Presidency and the APC
\nhave not yet realized that Nigerians are aware that since their defence
\nfell apart at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, they have
\nbecome nervous and desperate to invent any means to frame and drag down
\nAtiku Abubakar; a plot that has already failed.<\/p>\n
It is indeed not surprising that the APC, in its desperation, is now
\nplaying opposition, which is a role fitting of it, being that it does
\nnot have the mandate of the people; the very reason it cannot command
\nthe respect, loyalty and support of the citizens in the midst of its
\nmisrule.<\/p>\n
The PDP maintains that Atiku Abubakar, as a leader of choice, has never
\nfaltered in displaying the highest sense of patriotism, restrain and
\ndecorum in his positions on national issues and, standing with
\noverwhelming majority of Nigerians, cannot be intimidated or distracted
\nfrom pursing the retrieval of his stolen Presidential mandate at the
\ntribunal.<\/p>\n
Instead of fixating on Atiku, the APC should help the Commander-in-Chief
\nto provide answers for escalated insecurity in our country under his
\nwatch; with insurgents, marauders, bandits and kidnappers holding our
\nnation hostage and turning her into a killing field and large funeral
\npalour in the last four years.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the APC should rather be helping President Buhari to answer
\nNigerians on how his administration wrecked our once robust economy,
\nentrenched corruption, frittered trillions of naira, turned our nation
\ninto world poverty capital and foisted joblessness, acute hunger and
\nstarvation; human right abuses and downright impunity, which have
\nspurred resentment to the extent that Nigerians are now desperate to
\ntake their destinies in the hands with many resorting to suicide and
\nslavery missions abroad.<\/p>\n
Moreover, the APC should look inwards, do some soul searching and face
\nthe miseries it sired instead of seeking for a scapegoat where there is
\nnone.<\/p>\n
Let it therefore be known to the APC and the Buhari Presidency that the
\nPDP and Nigerians stand with Atiku Abubakar in the collective national
\ndetermination to retrieve our stolen presidential mandate at the court
\nand we are confident that justice for the people will prevail at the end
