The Health and Wellness Week marked the<br \/>\nculmination of activities of Stanbic IBTC\u2019s annual Health Week<br \/>\nprogramme, designed to educate and enlighten the company\u2019s employees and<br \/>\nthe public on issues concerning healthy living and wellness.<\/p>\n<p>The 2019 Health and Wellness Week was held across the cities of Lagos,<br \/>\nIbadan, Port Harcourt and IIorin on Saturday, 10 August 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at this year\u2019s edition which was themed: \u201cHealthy Mind, Healthy<br \/>\nBody &#8211; Reloaded\u201d, Yinka Sanni, Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic IBTC<br \/>\nHoldings PLC, encouraged the company\u2019s employees to pay more attention<br \/>\nto their mental health, to be more mindful about their lifestyle and to<br \/>\ninculcate healthy habits.<\/p>\n<p>Giving tips on how to maintain a good state of mental health, the<br \/>\nStanbic Group CEO stressed the need to constantly challenge oneself and<br \/>\nreach out to people for support.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cYou should challenge yourself to do more, learn new skills,<br \/>\nlook out for innovative and creative ways of doing things and also learn<br \/>\nto manage pressure and extend a helping hand to others. There is always<br \/>\nsomebody that can do with a helping hand around you if you are<br \/>\nattentive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sanni further advocated the need to take breaks to refresh while also<br \/>\npursuing excellence. \u201cWe should take time out to refresh. Be sure to<br \/>\ntake a 10 day break this year. We should also learn to practice<br \/>\nexcellence and bring out our very best. I also counsel that we should<br \/>\nlive in the present\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<p>In her welcome address, Olufunke Amobi, Country Head, Human Capital,<br \/>\nStanbic IBTC Holdings PLC, noted that the company fervently pursues a<br \/>\npolicy of promoting a healthy lifestyle amongst its staff members. She<br \/>\nstated that the Health Fair was instituted in order to make staff<br \/>\nmembers of the company become more conscious of adopting healthier<br \/>\nlifestyle choices.<\/p>\n<p>She said: \u201cThis Health Fair is particularly very important to us because<br \/>\nthe health and wellness of our staff has a direct correlation with our<br \/>\nvision, mission and our existence as an organisation.<\/p>\n<p>Amobi spoke on why the company chose to retain last year\u2019s theme, which<br \/>\nwas also \u201cHealthy Mind, Healthy Body\u201d: \u201cDuring deliberations, we<br \/>\nconcluded that the importance of having a healthy mind and healthy body<br \/>\ncannot be overemphasized. Having a sound mind and body is indeed<br \/>\nimportant. As such it is very important that we have a healthy balance<br \/>\nbetween achieving what is critical to us while also taking very good<br \/>\ncare of our bodies in the process.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Health Fair brought together all employees of the Stanbic IBTC<br \/>\nsubsidiaries under a carnival-like atmosphere. It featured exciting<br \/>\ncompetitions and games for both adults and children, and winners were<br \/>\nawarded prizes. The event kicked off with a Health Walk and aerobic<br \/>\nexercises.
