\nAssociation has banned former Super Eagles of Nigeria coach, Samson
\nSiasia, for bribery and match fixing allegation.<\/p>\n
According to FIFA, Siasia was found guilty of receiving a bribe to
\nmanipulate the outcomes of matches.<\/p>\n
In a statement on Friday, FIFA said Siasia would also pay a fine of
\nCHF50,000 while he remained banned from all football activities both at
\nnational and international levels.<\/p>\n
The statement reads, \u201cThe adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics
\nCommittee has found Mr Samson Siasia, a former official of the Nigeria
\nFootball Federation, guilty of having accepted that he would receive
\nbribes in relation to the manipulation of matches in violation of the
\nFIFA Code of Ethics.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe formal ethics proceedings against Mr Siasia were initiated on
\nFebruary 11, 2019, and stem from an extensive investigation into matches
\nthat Mr Wilson Raj Perumal attempted to manipulate for betting purposes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis large-scale investigation was conducted by FIFA via its competent
\ndepartments and in cooperation with the relevant stakeholders and
\nauthorities.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn its decision, the adjudicatory chamber found that Mr Siasia had
\nbreached art. 11 (Bribery) of the 2009 edition of the FIFA Code of
\nEthics and banned him for life from all football-related activities
\n(administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international
\nlevel.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition, a fine in the amount of CHF50,000 has been imposed on Mr
\nSiasia. The decision was notified to Mr Siasia today, the date on which
\nthe ban comes into force.\u201d<\/p>\n
Apart from his success as a player, Siasia is famed for leading
\nNigeria\u2019s Under-23 men\u2019s team to a silver finish at the football event
\nof the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China.<\/p>\n
