The Chief \u00a0Executive of the Federal Inland Revenue Services, FIRS, Babatunde Fowler, has responded to query issues him by President Mohammadu Buhari, on the shortfalls in tax collection.<\/div>\n

Fowler in his letter to the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, blamed oil market crisis for the shortfalls in tax revenues.<\/p>\n

The FIRS chief also blamed the period of recession for the shortfalls in tax collection.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0agreed that actual tax collection since the beginning of President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s administration is lower than the 2012-2014 period under former President Goodluck Jonathan, in general terms, he told the presidency FIRS under him has performed better regarding specific non-oil tax types, such as VAT and CIT.<\/p>\n
