The Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Rivers State on Thursday tendered
\nstrategic polling units results from different Local Government Areas to
\nthe Rivers\u00a0 State Governorship Election Tribunal to justify\u00a0 the
\nre-election of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.<\/p>\n
The Polling Units Results\u00a0 were tendered in respect of the petition
\nfiled against the election of Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike by the
\ndefeated Rivers State Governorship Candidate of the Action Democratic
\nParty (ADP), Mr Victor Fingesi.<\/p>\n
Tendering the Polling Units Results\u00a0 from the bar, counsel to the PDP,
\nChief Godwin Obla (SAN) said the polling units\u00a0 results were from 356
\nPolling Units.<\/p>\n
Obla told the\u00a0 Tribunal that the result sheets were from some of the
\npolling units in Obio\/Akpor, Khana, Ogu\/Bolo, Bonny, Akuku-Toru, Ahoada
\nEast, Opobo\/Nkoro and others.<\/p>\n
He informed the Tribunal that the PDP resolved to tender results to
\nprove that elections\u00a0 held across the state at the polling units and
\ndeclarations made under very peaceful\u00a0 atmosphere.<\/p>\n
He added that since INEC and Governor Wike have called witnesses to
\nprove that the Governorship Election was conducted in line with the
\nElectoral Act, the PDP chose to prove the conduct of the elections
\nthrough\u00a0 documentary evidence.<\/p>\n
Addressing journalists\u00a0 after\u00a0 closing the PDP Defence, Godwin Obla said
\nthat from documentary evidence and oral testimonies\u00a0 of witnesses, the
\n2019 Governorship Election in Rivers State was held in substantial
\ncompliance with the Electoral Act and Governor Wike emerged victorious.<\/p>\n
He said: “This morning on behalf of the 3rd respondent , the Peoples
\nDemocratic Party, PDP, we tendered a total of 356 exhibits in support of
\nour case. We feel satisfied that the requirements of the law required of
\nus,\u00a0 has been fully met and that is why we decided to close our case
\ntoday.<\/p>\n
“Don’t forget that the 1st respondent, INEC, called witnesses, the 2nd
\nrespondent, Governor Nyesom Wike, who is the candidate of the 3rd
\nrespondent, PDP, called witnesses and tendered alot of documents those
\nrelates to this same subject matter. The interest of the 1st, 2nd and
\n3rd respondents are actually the same”.<\/p>\n
Also speaking, Mr Dolapo-Telle Attoni, ADP counsel, “The PDP presented
\nfrom the Bar a bundle of\u00a0 electoral documents they claimed INEC used in
\nconducting the governorship election. They tendered about 356 alleged
\npolling units results. We had asked for few minutes to study these same
\ndocuments and also obtain Certified True Copy of the said documents
\nwhich not comply by INEC”.<\/p>\n
Following the PDP closing its case, the Rivers State Governorship
\nElection Petition Tribunal has adjourned till September 16 2019 for the
\nadoption of addresses by parties in the petition filed by Action
\nDemocratic Party and its Governorship candidate, Mr Victor Fingesi.<\/p>\n
