Anambra police command has recovered 150 handsets reasonably suspected
\nto have been\u00a0 stolen from different victims in the state.<\/p>\n
The Command Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Mohammed made this
\nknown in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka on Thursday.<\/p>\n
He said Puff-Adder operatives in conjunction\u00a0 with Police detectives
\nattached to Aguata Division arrested three suspects on Aug. 26 who
\nspecialises in car and handsets snatching.<\/p>\n
The suspects are Anyingor Arinze\u00a0 ‘m’ of Othuke, Asaba Delta state,
\nChinedu Nweke ‘m’ of Mbekwe Estate, Ogidi in\u00a0 Idemili North LGA of
\nAnambra\u00a0 state and Ebuka Christian Eziamaka ‘m’ of Ire village, Obosi in
\nIdemili North LGA of Anambra state.<\/p>\n
Mohammed said\u00a0 exhibits recovered in their possession includes one
\nGionee handset belonging to one of the victims whose vehicle was
\nsnatched.<\/p>\n
Other exhibits recovered are 12 Itel phones of different models, 26
\nInfinix phones of different models, 32 Tecno phones of different models,
\n16 Samsung phones of different models, 3 Gionee phones of different
\nmodels and 60 other smaller phones of different make and models.<\/p>\n
According to him, the suspects were part of the gang allegedly involved
\nin series of armed robbery\/carjacking in Anambra and Asaba axis
\nincluding the\u00a0 snatching of one Toyota Corolla 2004 and Lexus 300 car on
\nJuly 21, 2019 in\u00a0 Aguata.<\/p>\n
He said the\u00a0 case was under investigation after which suspects would be
\ncharged to court for prosecution.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Command enjoins the Public whose handsets were either
\nsnatched or stolen through similar modus to report at the Special Anti
\nrobbery Squad Akwuzu with proof of ownership to claim their handsets and
\nalso give further evidence to aid Police investigation.<\/p>\n
