The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says Nigerians are now anxiously
\nlooking up to the judiciary to have the courage to do justice in the
\nPresidential election tribunal.<\/p>\n
The party in a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan said the general
\nexpectation pervading the nation across the board is that the judiciary,
\nas the last hope of the common man, will be dauntless in addressing the
\nsubstance of the petition by the peoples\u2019 candidate, Alhaji Atiku
\nAbubakar, in the collective quest to retrieve a stolen mandate through
\nthe legal process.<\/p>\n
PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, who stated this
\nwhile receiving a Coalition of Young Professionals in Abuja, who paid
\nthe party a solidarity visit at its National Secretariat in Abuja on
\nFriday, however urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country and its
\ndemocracy.<\/p>\n
Ologbondiyan said, \u201cAs a party, we have made a solid case before the
\npanel. Our candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, had also presented his case
\nsupported by credible evidence. We had presented incontrovertible
\nevidence to show that our Presidential mandate was stolen. Every
\nNigerian now looks on to the judicial officers for justice.<\/p>\n
\u201cNigerians are waiting and hoping that the judiciary will have the
\ncourage to do justice in the presidential election petition.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the face of the anguish, pains, calamitous events, bloodletting,
\nstrong division, resentment, insecurity, acute hunger and starvation
\ncrippling our country, Nigerians’ only hope is now in the judiciary to
\nsave our nation by addressing the substance of the petition by Atiku and
\nthe PDP.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur party urges Nigerians not to lose hope in their nation because we
\nhave no other country to call our own; even the\u00a0 judicial officers are
\nalso Nigerians, so we must keep hope alive believing, that like I said
\nearlier, the judiciary will consider the substance of the matter and the
\nevidence before it\u201d.<\/p>\n
The PDP thanked Nigerians across the board for the solidarity and
\nsupport in the struggle and assured of its determination to pursue the
\ncause to a logical conclusion.<\/p>\n
According to Ologbondiyan, \u201cour party has continued to receive immense
\nsupport from Nigerians from all walks of lives on this struggle and even
\nin the diaspora. This is one cause that has united Nigerians,
\nirrespective of ethnicity, creed and political leaning.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have been receiving outpouring of overwhelming solidarity from
\nwell-meaning Nigerians, including key professional groups, youth groups,
\ndrivers of key sectors of our economy, market women, traditional,
\nfaith-based and community leaders, as well as patriotic individuals
\nwithin the APC, who abhor the manipulations of their party and INEC in
\nstealing our Presidential mandate. We believe that justice will be
\nserved at the end of the day as the singular way to move our nation
\nforward\u201d, Ologbondiyan said.<\/p>\n
Earlier at the meeting, the Convener of the Coalition, Alhaji Shehu
\nAbubakar Magaji, commended the leadership of the party for effectively
\nmobilizing Nigerians in the 2019 general elections in the collective
\nquest to rescue the nation from the misrule of the APC.<\/p>\n
He assured that Nigerians are \u201csolidly behind the PDP and Atiku Abubakar
\nin the efforts to reclaim the Presidential mandate through the courts.<\/p>\n
