The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges the Police, Military and
\nDepartment of State Services (DSS) high commands to, without further
\ndelay, secure the release of its National Youth Leader, Hon. SKE
\nUde-Okoye, who was attacked and abducted by gunmen in Enugu on Monday.<\/p>\n
The PDP expresses shock at the abduction and condemned it as cowardly
\nand reprehensible, according to a statement signed by National Publicity
\nSecretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan.<\/p>\n
“The party describes the abduction of the Youth Leader as a national
\nchallenge and a direct attack on the body of the nation\u2019s youth
\npopulation, which he symbolizes. It cautioned that the development is
\ncapable of aggravating the already tensed security situation in the
\ncountry if not confronted with\u00a0 corresponding security response.<\/p>\n
“Moreover, the party is particularly worried about the safety and lives
\nof the Youth Leader and his staff, who was also abducted by the gunmen.<\/p>\n
“The PDP therefore charges the top command of the Police, the DSS and
\nthe military to step into the issue with full force to ensure the
\nimmediate release of the Youth Leader as well as track down those behind
\nthe dastardly act.<\/p>\n
“The PDP notes that Hon. Udeh-Okoye has always been at the forefront in
\nefforts towards the development and wellbeing of the youth across the
\nnation and urged the security forces to leave no stone unturned to
\nsecure his release.<\/p>\n
“The party laments the pervading insecurity in the nation and urges the
\nSecurity authorities not to relent in their efforts and sacrifices in
\ncombating acts of terrorism and violence against innocent citizens.<\/p>\n
“The PDP appreciates the outpouring of concerns from well-meaning
\nNigerians over the development, even as it urges its teeming members and
\nsupporters, particularly the youth, to remain calm as the security
\nforces up their rescue efforts.”<\/p>\n
