The Senator representing Bayelsa Central Senatorial district, Douye
\nDiri, aligned with Governor Seriake Dickson, pulled off a stunning win
\nin Bayelsa state\u2019s Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship primary on
\nWednesday morning, edging out former NDDC boss Ndutimi Alaibe.<\/p>\n

Diri won the primary with 561 votes out of a total of 1,244 accredited
\ndelegates, while Timidity\u2019s Alaibe pulled 365 votes.<\/p>\n

The PDP primary election was attended by former President Goodluck
\nJonathan, the current governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson and other major
\nstakeholders of the party.<\/p>\n

The election, which started at about 11:30 pm Tuesday night, ended at
\nabout 5am Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

In his address, immediately after the counting of ballots, the chairman
\nof the electoral committee and Governor of Taraba state, Darius Ishaku,
\ndeclared Diri winner of the election having met all the conditions and
\ngot the highest number of votes.<\/p>\n

Senator Douye Diri will represent the party in the November 16
\ngovernorship election.<\/p>\n
