The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counsels President Muhammadu Buhari
\nto show humility and accept the bitter truth that poverty, internal
\nconflicts, bloodletting, banditry, kidnapping, insurgency, abuse of
\nhuman rights and general national insecurity have escalated under his
\ndivisive, vindictive and repressive administration.<\/p>\n

The party in a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan says “instead of
\nembarking on ego trip and picking a fight with the United Nation (UN)
\nRapporteur, Agnes Callamard, for highlighting the grave security issues
\nin our country, which are already in the international domain, the
\nBuhari Presidency should be seeking for help, seeing that is has no
\nsolution to the festering problem.<\/p>\n

“If anything, the UN Rapporteur report only reinforces the positions of
\ncredible international bodies including the United States Department of
\nState, Amnesty International (AI) and Transparency International (TI)
\nwhich also reported cases of arbitrary and extra-judicial killings,
\nillegal arrests, arbitrary detention, torture, festering violence,
\nreported disappearances and abuse of human rights under the Buhari
\nadministration.<\/p>\n

“Moreover, the PDP holds that the UN report is a vindication of its
\nstance as well as that of millions of Nigerians that the ineptitude and
\nrepressive tendencies of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
\nadministration under President Buhari are emboldening acts on violence
\nand fuelling impunity, division and intolerance in the polity.<\/p>\n

“Today, Nigeria is becoming one of the most insecure places to live.
\nCitizens can no longer move freely around their country as marauders,
\nkidnappers, insurgents and bandits take over the highways, pillage
\ncommunities, kill and take citizens captive at will.<\/p>\n

“By fighting persons or organization that tell us the truth instead of
\nseeking solutions, the Buhari Presidency is doing a great disservice to
\nNigerians especially those in communities being ravaged by insurgency,
\nbanditry, kidnapping and ethnic clashes.<\/p>\n

“The PDP holds that at the moment, what ought to be paramount to the
\nBuhari Presidency should not be the sentiments of regime image but the
\nwelfare and security of vulnerable Nigerians.<\/p>\n

“President Buhari should therefore caution his handlers on their
\nunguarded statements on grave national issues.<\/p>\n

“He should immediately accept responsibility for his failures and seek
\nhelp since he has not demonstrated the capacity to effectively led a
\nnation as complex as Nigeria at the moment.<\/p>\n

“The truth can be bitter, but in its acceptance lies the solution.”<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
