The Maiduguri Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes
\nCommission, EFCC, on Thursday, September 26, 2019 arraigned one Adam
\nKaka Adam before Justice Ibrahim Jauro of the Yobe State High Court,
\nDamaturu, on one-count charge, bordering on criminal misappropriation to
\nthe tune of N11, 657, 500.00 (Eleven Million Six Hundred and Fifty-seven
\nThousand Five Hundred Naira).<\/p>\n

Adam was a former Service Manager, in charge of Vault Room and Automated
\nTeller Machine (ATM) in Unity Bank Plc, Damaturu Branch, Yobe State.<\/p>\n

Trouble started for him when the EFCC received a petition against him
\nfrom his employer (Unity Bank Plc), alleging criminal misappropriation
\nof the said sum, meant to be fed the ATM machines of the branch which he
\nis alleged to have dishonestly converted to his personal use.<\/p>\n

The charge reads: “That you, Adam Kaka Adam, while being the Branch
\nService Manager with Unity Bank Plc, Damaturu, Yobe State, in charge of
\nthe Vault Room and Automated Teller Machines (ATM), sometime in 2017 at
\nDamaturu, Yobe State within the jurisdiction of this honourable court
\nand in such capacity dishonestly took the sum of N11, 657, 500.00
\n(Eleven Million Six Hundred and Fifty Seven Thousand Five Hundred Naira)
\nonly, being the property of Unity Bank Plc without its consent and with
\nintention of permanently depriving it of the said sum and thereby
\ncommitted an offence contrary to and punishable under Sections 286(1)
\nand 287 of the Penal Code Law, Laws of Yobe State of Nigeria
\nrespectively.”<\/p>\n

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge. Following his plea,
\nprosecution counsel Khalid Sanusi prayed the court for a trial date and
\nfor the defendant to be remanded in prison custody.<\/p>\n

Justice Jauro admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1million
\nwith two sureties in like sum and adjourned the matter to October 15,
\n2019 for commencement of trial.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Ayade: Spaghetti flyover, major bridges to be completed soon<\/p>\n

Cross River State Governor, Sir Ben Ayade has assured that the ongoing
\nconstruction of a spaghetti flyover and other flyover bridges at
\nOdukpani Junction will soon be completed.<\/p>\n

The governor gave the assurance when he visited the construction site
\nwhere major civil, mechanical and structural works are moving in rapid
\npace.<\/p>\n

Speaking to newsmen, Governor Ayade reinstated his commitment to ensure
\nthe spaghetti flyover, the first of its kind in this part of the world,
\nis delivered soon.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cthe Spaghetti Flyover looks like something impossible
\nbecause of the three floors of bridges crossing each other. Ordinarily
\nthat doesn’t look like something Cross River could handle.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrust me, with the intellectual money everything is possible. So here
\nwe are at the site, the civil works going on perfectly well, the
\nstructural works, mechanical works going on also with same rapidity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Governor also spoke about the superhighway and the deep seaport
\nprojects, which he believes hold the key to unlocking the economic
\npotential of not just the state but the country as a whole.<\/p>\n

While affirming his unflinching commitment to the actualisation of the
\nprojects, the governor reiterated his appeal to President Muhammadu
\nBuhari, to grant the state a sovereign guarantee on the projects.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that the first phase of the 275km Superhighway will be
\ncompleted by the first quarter of next year.<\/p>\n

This is just as he revealed that construction of bridges along the route
\nhave commenced.
