\nstates are being used to fight against Rivers State for the illegal
\ngrabbing\u00a0 of the state’s oil wells.<\/p>\n
Commissioning the Dualised\/Reconstructed Birabi Street, Elegbam-Rumueme
\nin Obio\/Akpor Local Government Area on Friday,\u00a0 Governor Wike said the
\nState has the capacity to resist any form of oil well annexation.<\/p>\n
He said: “So many states are being used to fight Rivers State to collect
\nour oil Wells. We have the capacity to fight back.\u00a0 No state will take
\nwhat belongs\u00a0 to Rivers State.<\/p>\n
“Whether\u00a0 you are PDP or APC State,\u00a0 anybody who attempts to take what
\nbelongs to Rivers, Rivers State will fight back.<\/p>\n
“This is not a question of party.\u00a0 It is the interest of the state that
\nmatters. My interest is Rivers State, not political party. If you are in
\nPDP and you don’t love Rivers State, I will not love you . My love for
\nyou is based upon your love for Rivers State “.<\/p>\n
He said that Rivers State deserves the best, noting that his
\nadministration will continue to work for the growth of the state.<\/p>\n
The governor said that his administration will enhance the
\ninfrastructural base of Port Harcourt and Obio\/Akpor Local Government
\nAreas, as a large percentage of Rivers people live in the state capital
\nterritory.<\/p>\n
He thanked the people of Rumuadaolu in Obio\/Akpor Local Government Area
\nfor cooperating with the contractors to deliver the road.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike praised Former Rivers State Governor, Dr Peter Odili for
\ngrooming the present\u00a0 generation of political leaders in the state.<\/p>\n
“Dr Peter Odili is the person who brought all of us up. No political
\nleader can claim that he is what he is today without Odili.<\/p>\n
“Odili laid the foundation.\u00a0 But for him, Ikwerre man would not be
\nGovernor of Rivers State.\u00a0 Ikwerre people owe him a lot.\u00a0 It was
\ndifficult in this state for any Ikwerre man to be Governor.\u00a0 He took the
\nrisk for an Ikwerre man to be Governor .<\/p>\n
“I know the hatred people have on him because he said an Ikwerre man
\nmust be Governor.\u00a0 We shall continue to stand with him. Any Ikwerre man
\nwho is anywhere without recognising Odili will not know peace. Any
\nIkwerre man plotting against you and your family will never have peace
\n“.<\/p>\n
Governor Wike said the many fights Odili is having today is because he
\ninsisted that an Ikwerre man should be Governor.\u00a0 He urged the Former
\nRivers State Governor not to regret facilitating the emergence of an
\nIkwerre Governor in the state.<\/p>\n
In a project description, Permanent Secretary, Rivers State Ministry of
\nWorks, Dr Walter Ndu\u00a0 said the ministry is implementing the governor’s
\noutstanding urban renewal programme.<\/p>\n
He said the road was a single lane, before the Rivers State Governor
\ndirected that a section be dualised, while the second section was
\nexpanded for improved traffic.<\/p>\n
Chairman of Obio\/Akpor Local Government Area, Solomon Eke praised the
\ngovernor’s sense of judgment in dualising the road that leads to the
\nheadquarters of Salvation Ministries.\u00a0 He said thousands of
\ninternational visitors to the church would enjoy using the high quality
\nroad.<\/p>\n
He said that the people of Obio\/Akpor Local Government Area appreciate
\nthe governor’s commitment to the development of the area.<\/p>\n
