A south west group, the Coalition of Yoruba Nationals, says it is
\npulling the Yoruba nation out of Nigeria, because, according to the
\ngroup, the country has slipped into “anarchy” and can no longer protect
\nYoruba interests.<\/p>\n

It is also in the same vein seeking to align with “Biafra”, a reference
\nto ongoing secessionist efforts in South East Nigeria.<\/p>\n

In a statement dated September 27 2019, signed on its behalf by one
\nLekan Abayomi, the group listed among its grievances, the attempt by
\nsome persons to “disgrace” Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, as well as the
\ncontinued detention of activist Omoyele Sowore by the Department of
\nState Services, despite the fact that a court of competent jurisdiction
\nhas ordered his release.<\/p>\n

“While we have little sympathy for the Yoruba Vice President, a member
\nand promoter of the anarchist and tyrannical terror regime, recently we
\nhave watched how among thieves there is no honor and after using this
\nnaive Yoruba man who nearly died while running helter-skelter disbursing
\nTradermoni in what has been called vote-buying to secure their
\nre-election, they are disgracing and dumping him …<\/p>\n

“Again as happened with Zakzaky, Dasuki and Nnamdi Kanu, these lawless
\nbarbarians with their half-wit Attorney General are standing before the
\nworld in contempt of court and refusing without reason to release one of
\nour sons, in person of Crusader Omoyele Sowore, granted bail. They have
\nplaced themselves above the law and become a law unto their selves,” the
\ngroup stated.<\/p>\n

Butressing its argument that Nigeria has slipped into anarchy under a
\n“Fulani ruling class”, the secessionist group cited what they described
\nas the desecration of the “sanctity of the judicial arm” of government
\nby the Buhari administration, as well as the government’s policy of
\npardoning and rehabilitating terrorists who usually are from the
\nnorthern part of the country, while punishing criminals from elsewhere
\nin the country.<\/p>\n

“Again and again the feudal barbarians in charge have desecrated the
\nsanctity of the judicial arm, standing in contempt of court,
\ndisregarding pronouncements by our Judges. Repeatedly these anarchists
\nflaunt court orders, rendering our courts useless and there has been no
\nimplication and we the Yoruba nation have paused to react.<\/p>\n

“Again, without regard for law and order, the feudalists continue to
\npardon terrorists and killers of their tribe or inkling, granting them
\namnesty and reward after they kill and rape our people. Yet we paused to
\nreact. Whereas when kidnappers like Evans operate in Yoruba, Niger Delta
\nor Igbo land, we arrest them and deal with them according to the law.<\/p>\n

“The same is not obtained in the other land where cows rule and killers
\nreign. “Give up your ancestral land or be buried under it,” they openly
\nthreatened us. We have yet remained in bondage to them, fighting to
\nremain ruled by these barbarians. Mad people whose soldiers kill police
\nto free kidnappers,” the group said.<\/p>\n

Citing Article 1 of the United Nations Charter, which provides for the
\nright of every group to self determination, the group said it therefore
\nseeks a total severance of any further relationship between the Yoruba
\nnation and Nigeria. Declaring alignment with “Biafra”, the group said it
\nis now committed to a “joint struggle with our southern brothers towards
\nemancipation from the calamity that was Nigeria.”<\/p>\n

“We shall be a part of this madness no more. On this day, the 27th of
\nSeptember 2019, we the Yoruba nation within the confines of what used to
\nbe Nigeria, hereby declare our secession from the contraption that was
\nNigeria. We no longer remain a part of such a shambolic accursed
\nshipwreck.<\/p>\n

“We announce this day our alignment with Biafra and our commitment to a
\njoint struggle with our southern brothers towards emancipation from the
\ncalamity that was Nigeria.<\/p>\n

“This day, the 27th of September 2019, we severe our bondage with the
\nnorth of Nigeria who have the lawless leadership they trust, voted for
\nand stand behind. We liberate ourselves from this uninvited malunion,”
\nAbayomi’s statement said.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
