The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Area II Command Onne Port has
\ngenerated a total revenue sum of eighty-one billion, one hundred and
\nninety-six million, six hundred and ninety-seven thousand, eight hundred
\nand fifty- eight naira, and fifty-seven kobo (\u20a681,196,697,858.57)\u00a0 in
\nthe third quarter of year 2019.<\/p>\n
This amount generated surpassed the sum of \u20a669,535,174,318.38 that was
\ncollected within the same period under review in 2018 with over
\n\u20a611,661,523,540.19.<\/p>\n
This feat in increasing revenue collection is first of its kind in the
\nhistory of the command.<\/p>\n
It is also as a result of the strategic plans aimed at enhancing the
\nrevenue collecting capacity in Onne Port.<\/p>\n
The Customs Area Controller, Aliyu Galadima Saidu, has increasingly
\ndeployed tact, intelligence enforcement and technology in ensuring
\nmaximum compliance by users of the port.<\/p>\n
The Command also recorded a total of sixty-six (66) Seizures with Duty
\nPaid Value (DPV) of eight hundred and sixty-five million, nine hundred
\nand twenty-six thousand, and eight hundred and twenty-one naira
\n(\u20a6865,926,821.00) for the period under review.<\/p>\n
Comptroller Galadima is also vigorously pursuing the Comptroller-General
\nof Customs zero tolerance for duty evasion, smuggling and other
\ninfractions like under declaration and so on.<\/p>\n
He has been reviving proficiency in the area with regards to identifying
\nand blocking all possible avenues of revenue leakages; enhancing
\ncapacity building in areas of modern Customs Operations; reinforcing the
\ncommitment of Officers and men in the discharge of their statutory
\nresponsibilities and assuring to bring to book any erring officer found
\ncompromising.<\/p>\n
Saidu ensures seizures were successfully accomplished as a result of the
\nrenewed determination of the Comptroller-General of Customs Col. Hameed
\nIbrahim Ali (Rtd.) to rid the country of all forms of illegal
\nimportation.<\/p>\n
He stated that there will be continuous sensitization for stakeholders
\non the need to be compliant with extant laws governing Customs
\nactivities.<\/p>\n

Seizures made within the period are:<\/p>\n
1.\u00a0 \u00a0 Twelve (12) x 20 ft containers comprising thirteen thousand, one
\nhundred and eighty (13,180) jerry cans of 25 litres of vegetable oil
\nwith DPV of\u00a0 \u20a682,517,024.00;<\/p>\n
2.\u00a0 \u00a0 Five (5) x 20ft containers comprising of eight thousand, seven
\nhundred and six (8706) cartons of foreign soap worth \u20a679,497,617.00;<\/p>\n
3.\u00a0 \u00a0 Two (2) containers with specifications 1 x 20ft and 1x 40 ft
\nrespectively loaded with fifty-seven thousand, three hundred (57,300)
\npieces of matches, fifty-nine(59) cartons of matches, one thousand three
\nhundred (1,300) sacks of shovel, one hundred (100) cartons of hook
\nknives, one hundred and seventy \u2013two (172) sacks of diggers) all
\namounted to \u20a652,463,002.00;<\/p>\n
4.\u00a0 \u00a0 One (1) x 40ft container loaded with scrap metal of various sizes
\nand types worth \u20a65,386,979.00;<\/p>\n
5.\u00a0 \u00a0 Forty-one (41) x 20ft containers comprising of one hundred and
\neighty-one bundles and ten thousand, eight hundred (10,800) packs of
\ncorrugated aluminium roofing tiles\/sheets and its accessories with DPV
\nof \u20a6561,753,188.00;<\/p>\n
6.\u00a0 \u00a0 One (1) x 20ft container comprising of three hundred and fifteen
\n(315) bales of textiles (wax material) worth \u20a618,495,395.00;<\/p>\n
7.\u00a0 \u00a0 Sixty-nine(69) bags of imported rice and three hundred and
\ntwenty-nine (329) bales of clothing amounted to \u20a610,725,658.00;<\/p>\n
8.\u00a0 \u00a0 Four (4) x 20ft containers of one hundred and sixty logs of
\nhardwood with DPV of \u20a610,342,838.00;<\/p>\n
9.\u00a0 \u00a0 One (1) x 20 ft container comprising of five hundred and
\neighty-eight (588) cartons of battery, eighteen (18) cartons of rolls
\nPVC, eighty (80) bundles of plain cartons and ten (10) keys of gum worth
\n\u20a620,654,664.00.<\/p>\n
Nonetheless, the Area Controller placed a marching order to ensure that
\nall importers\/and their agents are compelled to comply with the extant
\nlaws on international trade, reiterated the Service zero tolerance for
\nfalse declaration of goods or other deliberate infractions; and assured
\nthe readiness of the Command to facilitate trade in line with global
\nbest practices to all honest and compliant importers\/agents.<\/p>\n
