{"id":70035,"date":"2019-10-23T03:07:34","date_gmt":"2019-10-23T02:07:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=70035"},"modified":"2019-10-23T03:07:34","modified_gmt":"2019-10-23T02:07:34","slug":"court-orders-interim-forfeiture-of-kola-alukos-n6-42bn-properties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/exclusive\/court-orders-interim-forfeiture-of-kola-alukos-n6-42bn-properties\/","title":{"rendered":"Court Orders Interim Forfeiture of\u00a0\u00a0Kola Aluko\u2019s N6.42bn Properties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, ordered the temporary forfeiture of some landed properties valued at N6.42bn belonging to Kola Aluko, an ally of a former Minister of Petroleum Recources, Diezani Allison-Madueke.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Liman gave the order today, following an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, through its counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo.<\/p>\n<p>The properties, according to the affidavit deposed to by Sambo Mayana, an operative of the EFCC,\u00a0 are located on Plots 3389 and 3390, House 2, Margaret Thatcher Close, Asokoro Cadastral Zone, Abuja as well as Avenue Towers, Plot\u00a0<a dir=\"ltr\" rel=\"noreferrer\">1391, Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island<\/a>, Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>The applicant averred that Plots 3389 and\u00a0 3390 in Abuja were allegedly purchased for N350m and $18m respectively, while the Lagos property was bought for $55m.<\/p>\n<p>Moving the application today, Oyedepo, told the court that \u201cThe properties sought to be attached are reasonably suspected to be proceeds of an unlawful diversion from the Federal Government of Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe respondent\u2019s known and provable lawful income is far less than the properties sought to be forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>The applicant, in the affidavit, further stated that the investigation leading to the identification of the properties commenced following receipt of intelligence\u00a0 reports and a petition from Debo Adeniran, the then\u00a0\u00a0Executive\u00a0 Chairman, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, alleging \u201cfraud, lack of transparency and unethical conduct in the transfer of production rights in the oil mining leases against the respondent and his cronies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It was further alleged that there were suspicious financial transactions involving the first respondent, KAA and Atlantic Energy Holding Limited based in the British Virgin Island.<\/p>\n<p>The company, in the course of three years, allegedly received large suspicious transfers from two sister companies, namely: Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited and Atlantic Energy Brass Development Limited, based in Nigeria.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Judge, in granting the application, directed the EFCC to publish the interim forfeiture order in a national newspaper and adjourned to\u00a0<a dir=\"ltr\" rel=\"noreferrer\">November 12, 2019<\/a>\u00a0for the\u00a0respondent or anyone interested in the properties to appear before him to show cause, why the properties should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.<\/p>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, ordered the temporary forfeiture of some landed properties valued at N6.42bn belonging to&hellip;<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on wp_trim_excerpt --><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":19733,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[17],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-70035","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-exclusive"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
