{"id":70258,"date":"2019-11-04T19:09:16","date_gmt":"2019-11-04T18:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/?p=70258"},"modified":"2019-11-04T19:09:16","modified_gmt":"2019-11-04T18:09:16","slug":"driver-lynched-over-attempted-ritual-in-anambra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pointblanknews.com\/pbn\/other-news\/driver-lynched-over-attempted-ritual-in-anambra\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver lynched over attempted ritual in Anambra"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"m-8966402619307839058\" class=\"mail-message expanded\">\n<div class=\"mail-message-content collapsible zoom-normal mail-show-images \">\n<div class=\"clear\">\n<p>A 23-year old man, simply identified as Samuel, has been lynched by<br \/>\nangry mob for allegedly attempting to use a 4-year old girl for ritual<br \/>\nin Awka, Anambra state.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased, from Benue State and a driver with a private school in the<br \/>\narea, was said to have attempted to kill the little girl in her mother&#8217;s<br \/>\nshop while she was away.<\/p>\n<p>It was gathered that the mother of the victim, a petty trader, had gone<br \/>\nto buy food for the daughter when she was attacked by the suspect.<\/p>\n<p>Narrating her ordeal, Mrs Ginika Eze, a native of Alumona-Nsukka, Enugu<br \/>\nstate alleged that the deceased mission was to kill her daughter for<br \/>\nritual purposes.<\/p>\n<p>She said, &#8220;I brought my daughter to stay with me at the shop so at to<br \/>\nkeep eye on her since her school was on mid-term break.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When she complained she was hungry and wanted to eat beans with bread<br \/>\nfor lunch, I dashed to a nearby shop to buy the items.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was not long my attention was drawn to my stall where my daughter<br \/>\nwas struggling with a man almost half necked.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was kissing her and fondling her breast, while muttering, &#8220;I must<br \/>\ndrink your blood.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 42-year-old woman said she had to raise alarm as the man was already<br \/>\nkissing her all over her face and was about to defile her.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Luckily, some boys within the area ran to the scene of the incident and<br \/>\nstarted dragging my daughter with him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;By then, blood was already dropping from her face as the man held her<br \/>\ntight in his arms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She however said she was able to retrieve\u00a0 the daughter and rushed her<br \/>\nto a hospital where she was receiving treatment.<\/p>\n<p>A witness, who preferred anonymity, claimed the deceased was shouting<br \/>\nfor blood and was about to suck the girl&#8217;s blood before he was lynched.<\/p>\n<p>He said the father of the deceased had already been contacted.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the incident, the Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed said<br \/>\nthe deceased was probably under the influence of some hard drugs.<\/p>\n<p>He said, &#8220;He captured the 4-year-old girl and was molesting her sexually<br \/>\nbefore he was arrested by some civilians who carried out jungle justice<br \/>\non him.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When the police arrived the scene, the boy, who was probably in his<br \/>\nlate 20s, was lying motionless on the ground while his assailants had<br \/>\ndispersed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead.<br \/>\nInvestigations are still on to ascertain what transpired and to arrest<br \/>\nperpetrators of the crime.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mohammed however said no arrests had been made, adding that the victim<br \/>\nwas stable and responding to treatment.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mail-message-footer spacer collapsible\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- AddThis Advanced Settings generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Share Buttons generic via filter on the_content --><!-- AddThis Related Posts generic via filter on the_content -->","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 23-year old man, simply identified as Samuel, has been lynched by angry mob for allegedly attempting to use a 4-year old girl for ritual in Awka, Anambra state.
