Rivers State Governor,\u00a0 Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that he has not
\npromised any ethnic nationality, the position of governor.<\/p>\n
He said that only God has the capacity to make any ethnic nationality
\nGovernor of Rivers State.<\/p>\n
He spoke on Monday during a Solidarity Visit by the Ogoni Ethnic
\nNationality at the Government House Port Harcourt.<\/p>\n
“Let nobody say that I have met with Ogoni Ethnic Nationality and I
\npromised them Governor.\u00a0 I didn’t promise because I cannot give.<\/p>\n
“It is only God that will give the position of Governor.\u00a0 With proper
\narrangement,\u00a0 things can be done. Don’t say I made a promise,\u00a0 don’t
\nrely on anyone,\u00a0 just work hard. As Nyesom Wike,\u00a0 I can only support,
\nbut cannot make anyone Governor “, he said.<\/p>\n
He urged Rivers people to take him as an example\u00a0 \u00a0where a leader
\ndeclared that over his dead body would he emerge Rivers State Governor.<\/p>\n
“Take me as an example.\u00a0 Someone sat here and said over his\u00a0 dead body
\nwould I be Governor.\u00a0 Am I not Governor today? I am heading towards
\neight years.<\/p>\n
“Nobody should threaten you that you cannot be Governor.\u00a0 Don’t take the
\nposition of God. Don’t allow anyone to take the glory of God”, Governor
\nWike said.<\/p>\n
Speaking further, Governor Wike\u00a0 \u00a0stated that Senator Magnus Abe would
\nhave become the Governor of the state if he listened to his advice and
\nleft the then government of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi with him.<\/p>\n
He noted\u00a0 that with the elections over, it is time for governance . He
\nthanked the people of Ogoni Ethnic Nationality for supporting him to win
\nthe election<\/p>\n
He urged the people of Ogoni Ethnic Nationality to be united and work
\ntogether in order to achieve set goals, as well as build bridges across
\nvarious ethnic nationalities to succeed politically .<\/p>\n
The Governor advised Ogoni people with the intention to run for
\ngovernorship election in the state to be fully prepared to struggle for
\nthe position.<\/p>\n
He noted that no administration in the state has given Ogoni people the
\nnumber of appointments his administration has given them.
\n“No administration in this state has given Ogoni people more
\nappointments than me”, he said
\nGovernor Wike used the forum to intimate the people of Ogoni Ethnic
\nNationality on the State Government’s\u00a0 decision to acquire Shell’s share
\nin OML 11 .
\nHe regretted the negative propaganda by some people in the area. He
\nadvised them not to allow criminals to speak on their behalf .<\/p>\n
He said: “We have allowed criminals to speak for us. Some leaders use
\ncriminals\u00a0 to speak on their behalf. The next thing you hear, I am an
\nex-agitator. What are you agitating? You collect money everywhere and
\nbecome ex-agitator.<\/p>\n
“We sit back and sponsor criminals to talk on behalf of Ogoni Ethnic
\nNationality. How many of you have come out to say what that boy is
\nsaying is not correct.”<\/p>\n
Speaking during the Solidarity Visit,\u00a0 \u00a0Gbenemene Tai and Chairman,
\nSupreme Council of Ogoni Council of Traditional Rulers, King G.N.K.
\nGiniwa lauded the governor for his support to the Ogonis. He pledged
\ntheir unalloyed and unflinching support to the administration.<\/p>\n
Presenting the address of the people of Ogoni Ethnic Nationality,
\nSenator Bennett Birabi thanked Governor Wike for the numerous
\ninfrastructure put in place in Ogoni land. He also commended\u00a0 Governor
\nWike for the restoration of peace in the state and Ogoniland.<\/p>\n
He also lauded the governor for the acquisition of OML 11 for the
