Northern elites have finally woken up on Sunday, December 22nd with a
\nfrantic attempt to settle the feud and stop the plot to depose Emir
\nSanusi Lamido Sanusi as Emir of Kano. I have written an angry piece on
\nlast week titled \u2018Planned Deposition of Emir Sanusi and the Silence of
\nNorthern Fools\u2019 where I posited that it is foolishness of the highest
\norder for northern elites to be silent as Governor Ganduje destroys the
\nsymbol of northern unity and cohesion.<\/p>\n
Information reaching me suggests that the plot to put together a high
\npowered committee to address the issues came partly from the harsh tone
\nof that piece which I sent to key northern leaders. A high powered
\ndelegation led by General Abdulsalami, with Gowon actig behind e scene,
\nhave been assembled by the presidency to unite the two fighting
\nelephants of Sanusi and Ganduje and save the Kano Emirate from public
\nridicule and mockery.<\/p>\n
Some editors have asked me to tone down the title of the piece, and
\nremove the offensive word \u2018fools\u2019 and I have refused because I am no
\nmore ready to tolerate foolishness from our leaders as the nation
\nsinks.. Igbos are in a quagmire today because since the 2nd tenure of
\nUwechue as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in 2011, we have
\nconsistently taken foolish decisions that turned us into political
\norphans in Nigeria held bound by a mob of separatist murderers whose
\npropagandist dispositions have defied\u00a0 the sensibilities of the
\ninternational community.<\/p>\n
Therefore, it is foolishness for northern elutes to allow Ganduje to
\ndepose Sanusi, and I have alluded to the reasons in the first piece.<\/p>\n
By the way, who is Governor Ganduje that Emir Sanusi cannot criticize
\nhim? Sanusi as emir represents northern unity and cohesion, Ganduje as
\nPolitian represents northern corruption and impunity. Sanusi holds a
\ntraditional title; Ganduje holds a \u2018do or die\u2019 democratic title.
\nWhile the traditional stools have held the north together, the political
\nstools have looted the north to the point that even some 30 year old men
\nare almajiris in the north.<\/p>\n
Sanusi criticized a massively corrupt technocratic bandwagon assembled
\nby Jonathan, whose corrupt credentials made the west decide to remove
\nhim as president of Nigeria in 2015.When another set of corrupt people
\nwanted to hold Buhari to ransom with fictitious and fraudulent exchange
\nrate differentials, Sanusi criticized the new emerging billionaires. The
\nCBN and Buhari\u2019s men took correction.<\/p>\n
Sanusi criticized the Boko Haram insurgents to the point that they
\nplotted to assassinate him at the Kao Central Mosque, leaving over 200
\npersons dead in the process.<\/p>\n
Sanusi can criticize anybody, Christian or Muslim, elite or masses. Why
\nshould Ganduje turn Sanusi to an imbecile? Tufiakwa.<\/p>\n
The worst humiliation to the Emirate stool is the new law that when an
\nemir wants to travel out of the state, he sends letter to the local
\ngovernment chairman, instead of the governor. Thus Emir Sanusi will have
\nto take permission from a houseboy local government chairman of Kano
\nMetropolis before he can visit the Emir of Zazzau in Zaria. Soon the law
\nwill be extended to Sokoto and the Sultan will take permission from the
\nChairman of Sokoto Local Government Area before he can attend Argungu
\nFestival in Kebbi Emirate jurisdiction. The Shehu of Borno will soon beg
\nMaiduguri Local Government Chairman before he can attend a state
\nfunction in Abuja.<\/p>\n
Governor Ganduje has humiliated the north. He has desecrated the revered
\nemirate mystique of northern Nigeria. This nuisance may continue until
\nAlmajiris turns Emirs to lap dogs. Babangida started it, Abacha joined
\nin 1996, Obasanjo and Aliero took it to another level in 2005. These men
\nare former Presidents. Now a Governor is threatening an emir as though
\nhe is a councillor. Soon a local government chairman will depose the
\nEmir of Bauchi, and soon again road transport workers will banish an
\nEmir of Daura. Ganduje is sowing the seeds and it will germinate very
\nsoon.<\/p>\n
Last week I called upon President Buhari, Chief of Staff Abba Kyari and
\nChief of Cousins Mamman Daura in the earlier write-up to intervene. I
\nthank them for their intervention together with Generals\u2019 Gowon and
\nAbdulsalami, Governor Fayemi, Alhaji Adamu Fika and others who acted
\nbehind the scene. I hope they finish the assignment and stop the
\nmadness.<\/p>\n
It took Governor Isa Yuguda\u2019s boldness to banish Boko Haram from
\nBauchi State while his counterpart who is visionless, embraced and
\nfunded the terrorists in Borno State, leaving over One hundred thousand
\nNigerians, including Igbos and Christians, dead and millions orphaned
\nand displaced. The visionless ex-governor Sheriff is enjoying his life
\nbut the calamity be brought on Nigeria is still with us. Let this not be
\nrepeated in Kano, in the north and in Nigeria as a whole.<\/p>\n
The Bible said in Psalm 49 verses 20 that<\/p>\n
\u2018\u2019Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts
\nthat perish\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n
Emirateship has given honour to the north; let them not allow Ganduje
\nto demystify it. We Igbos are yet to recover from the demystification of
\nour national space by charlatans as leaders and activists.<\/p>\n
I am happy that the northern elites have shed foolishness, and the
\nBuhari backed Abdulsalami Committee will hopefully stop the north from
\nprecedential cataclysms which the planned deposition of Emir Sanusi will
\nbring.<\/p>\n
