PDP…Says Buhari Cannot Guarantee National Security, Unity<\/div>\n

\nThe National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party
\n(PDP), following a wide consultation and after an extensive meeting on
\nthe security situation in the country today, states that Amotekun and
\nsuch other security apparatus in various parts of the country are direct
\nvote of no confidence on the Buhari Presidency\u2019s handling of security in
\nthe country.<\/p>\n

PDP in a statement signed by Kola Ologbondiyan said “The party says the
\nfailure to take a decisive step to stem the escalated wave of killings
\nby insurgents; the refusal to rejig the security high command and a lack
\nof commitment to track down and prosecute even confessed perpetrators of
\nmindless killings are all pointers that the Buhari-led APC
\nadministration cannot guarantee the security of lives and property in
\nour nation.<\/p>\n

“The PDP notes that the failure of the Federal Government to prosecute
\nthe war against acts of terrorism beyond lip service and condolence
\nstatements is emboldening killings, which have now degenerated to
\nexecution of compatriots, the latest being the gruesome beheading of the
\nChairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), in Adamawa, Rev.
\nLawan Andimi.<\/p>\n

“The execution of Rev. Andimi is heartrending and like other killings,
\nremains a sad commentary of the inability of a government to stand for
\nits citizens at very crucial moments.<\/p>\n

“The PDP recalls that the Buhari-led Federal Government had failed to
\nprosecute the masterminds of the mass killings in Benue, Nasarawa,
\nBauchi, Taraba, Kogi, Adamawa, Borno, Yobe, Zamfara, Kaduna, Ekiti and
\nother parts of the country under the current administration.<\/p>\n

“Moreover, the body language, brazen acts of nepotism as well as
\ndivisive and incendiary comments by officials in the Buhari
\nadministration have continued to fuel disunity, acts of violence and
\ninsecurity in various parts of our nation.<\/p>\n

“Given the failure of the Buhari administration to guarantee the
\nessential of government which is the security of lives and property,
\nNigerians across board, as homes, communities, groups, towns, even
\nstates and regions are now organizing their respective security
\napparatuses such as Amotekun in the South West and several others in
\nvarious parts of the country to guarantee their safety.<\/p>\n

“The situation would not have degenerated to this level if the Buhari
\nPresidency is living up to its billing on security, including listening
\nto wise counsel by well-meaning Nigerians to rejig his security high
\ncommand.<\/p>\n

“The PDP holds that it is clear that the security of lives and property
\nin our nation has gone beyond what the insensitive, divisive and
\nincompetent Buhari administration can guarantee.<\/p>\n

“Indeed, our nation has come to a stage where any genuine assistance
\nthat can be provided by states and even communities in securing lives
\nand property should be integrated. The situation requires the
\ncollaboration of all, including the federating states.<\/p>\n

“Furthermore, the PDP remains committed to all efforts toward national
\ncohesion, security, peace, stability of our nation and all federating
\nunits in a manner that promotes good governance and national cohesion at
\nall times.”<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
