Rivers State Governor,\u00a0 Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has advised all his political<\/div>\n
\n
associates seeking the post of governor\u00a0 to seek the support of Rivers
\npeople,\u00a0 because he will not impose any Governor on the state.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a solidarity visit by the leaders and people of Oyigbo
\nLocal Government Area on Saturday at the Government House Port Harcourt,
\nGovernor Wike said all those hoping on him will be disappointed.<\/p>\n

He said: “I am not going to impose anyone on Rivers State as their next
\nGovernor of Rivers State. Anyone who wants to be Governor of Rivers in
\n2023 should go and try.<\/p>\n

“All those hoping on me, I want to disappoint you. I am an experienced
\npolitician,\u00a0 I have seen it all. There is nobody that you will make a
\nGovernor that will remain loyal to you.”<\/p>\n

Governor Wike added that all ethnic nationalities of Rivers State have
\nthe right to vie for the Governorship of Rivers State,\u00a0 noting that
\nOyigbo people should not be intimidated by any other ethnic group.<\/p>\n

He said: “Nobody dashes power. You have to break the hand holding the
\npower to collect it. Everyone is equal in this\u00a0 State. You need other
\npeople\u00a0 to be Governor.<\/p>\n

“The next Governor of Rivers State will not emerge on the basis of
\nethnic Nationality. The next Governor will be someone who can carry
\neveryone along.”<\/p>\n

Speaking further, Governor Wike said that there will be no automatic
\nticket for any Local Government Chairman for second term.<\/p>\n

He said that the emergence of any Local Government Chairman for second
\nterm,\u00a0 will be on the strength of his performance and acceptance.<\/p>\n

The Governor added that the emerging local government Councils must
\naccommodate women.<\/p>\n

Governor Wike announced that his administration will dualise the
\nOyigbo-Afam as a major encouragement to the Oyigbo people to defend
\ntheir votes in subsequent elections.<\/p>\n

He also stated that his administration will construct a General Hospital
\nin Oyigbo to improve access to quality healthcare in the area.<\/p>\n

He announced a N50million endowment fund for the daughter of a PDP Agent
\nkilled by soldiers during the 2019 General Election.<\/p>\n

Earlier,\u00a0 Eze Mike Nwaji who spoke on behalf of Oyigbo people praised
\nthe Rivers State Governor for his projects in the area.<\/p>\n

He urged the Rivers State Governor to dualise the Oyigbo-Afam road to
\nimprove the economy of the area. He also called on the Rivers State
\nGovernor to develop a Hospital for the health needs of the people.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
