No fewer than five persons including a woman have been arrested by the
\npolice over the alleged murder of 38 year-old Onitsha-based businessman,
\nMr. Onyemaechi Idoko, who died mysteriously inside Jubilee Hotel,
\nOnitsha in Anambra State few hours he left his shop at Ose Market,
\nOnitsha.<\/p>\n
Mr Chiedozie Collins Idoko, immediate younger brother of the deceased
\ntold this reporter that the allegation that his senior brother died
\nwhile having sex with a woman in the hotel was far from the truth and
\nsuspicious.<\/p>\n
He said that the family had to petition the Commissioner of Police,
\nAnambra State Police Command, Mr John Abang, who had directed full
\ninvestigation into the matter leading to the arrest of some workers of
\nthe hotel.<\/p>\n
“I know my brother, he is not a womanizer, he is not that type of
\nperson, he has two children with pregnant wife expecting to deliver a
\nnew baby,” Idoko said.<\/p>\n
He said that the arrest of some people in the hotel including those not
\nstaff, but doing some renovation work in the premises was to help get to
\nthe root cause of his brother’s death on Jan. 30, because the brother
\ndid not died as being been speculated and claimed by the hotel
\nmanagement.<\/p>\n
“I will not teach police their job; the renovation work was on-going
\neven the day I found my brother dead at the hotel premises, may be that
\nwas why the police wants those working there to help explain what they
\nsaw on the day of the incident.<\/p>\n
“There is much foul play in the entire scenario; I witnessed everything
\nwhen I got to the hotel the day my brother died in the premises. I have
\nevidence in pictures.<\/p>\n
“You will not tell me that my brother died while having sex with a
\nlady, but I find my brother in the hotel premises lying down with his
\ncloths intact, nothing happened to his wears, not in the hotel room, but
\nin the premises, outside, in the compound while his cloths are still
\nokay, inact
\n“The lady in question have not been found, that is why I was
\nsuspicious of everything, even how it all happened,” Idoko said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the first question when he arrived in the hotel and
\nsaw his brother’s lying lifeless on the ground was what happened.<\/p>\n
“I asked the hotel manager directly, he told me that my brother came to
\nthe hotel with a lady and after some 45minutes he heard somebody
\nshouting at the room, he said that he was the one that brought my
\nbrother down from the room.<\/p>\n
“My second question is where the lady is, he said that the lady had
\ngone away but he knew the lady, I said okay you know the lady and she
\njust gone like that?<\/p>\n
“Who called my brother’s wife, that was my third question, he said, one
\nof his workers did, I said can I see my brother’s phones so that I can
\nbe able to see the last call of the day, behold two of his phones had
\nbeen damaged.<\/p>\n
“That is why I will hold the hotel responsible for killing my brother
\nuntil they provide people behind it and they give convincing evidence
\nthat my brother died while having sex with lady.<\/p>\n
“I will be satisfied and the court will take its course, I will not
\ntake laws into my hands,” Idoko lamented.<\/p>\n
He explained that he did not know the owners of the hotel, stressing
\nthat the hotel manager was his number one suspect because he acting so.<\/p>\n
“Not what he said to me before he is saying now, he is denying what he
\ntold me before, but I am not alone, I have witness, he told us that he
\nwas the one that lodged my brother in the hotel and behold my brother’s
\nname was not in the manifest.<\/p>\n
“I saw something like `I’, no other name and my brother’s name is not
\nBartholomew, so everything is happening so fast …… on the same day
\nFeb. 1, the police has released their report that the man died on top of
\na woman, but the woman was nowhere to be found even as I am talking to
\nyou now.<\/p>\n
“Nothing have been done, while he Central Police Station police said
\nthe hotel manager was invited, that they have sent for autopsy. As I am
\ntalking to you, I am the one looking for the autopsy now.<\/p>\n
“So if you are in my shoe what will you do, are you not going to
\nsuspect the hotel manager until he proves himself otherwise,” he said.<\/p>\n
Idoko, from Enugu-Ezike in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu
\nstate said he had escaped death threat from unknown attackers at Modebe
\nStreet, Onitsha\u00a0 shortly after the brother’s death.<\/p>\n
He said that unknown attackers pursued him, but was saved by God using
\nthe vigilantee operative in the area which made the attackers to
\nretreat.<\/p>\n
However, it was gathered that the deceased recently contested for
\nchairmanship position of his Mellon line in Ose Market, Onitsha and won
\nbut his opposition according to sources were not comfortable with him
\ntaking over the leadership of the market line.<\/p>\n
When contacted, the Police spokesman in Anambra State, Haruna Mohammed
\nsaid it is only autopsy would prove the reality over what happened to
