President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the constitution of a National
\nHumanitarian Coordination Committee (NHCC) to oversee all humanitarian
\nactions in the country.<\/p>\n
The committee will, among others, provide a national vision for
\nhumanitarian actions, advise on coordination between the security
\nservices and humanitarian actors, settle disputes that may arise from
\ninteractions between security services and the humanitarian community.<\/p>\n
Other functions include: propose policies that enhance coordination and
\nseamless delivery of humanitarian aid to affected communities,
\nfacilitate delivery of humanitarian interventions to vulnerable persons,
\nand promote transparency and accountability in all aspects of
\nhumanitarian delivery in the country.<\/p>\n
The NHCC will be chaired by the Minister, Federal Ministry of
\nHumanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development
\n(FMHADMSD), and National Security Adviser (NSA), as co-Chairman.<\/p>\n
Other members are; Chairman, Nigeria Governors Forum, Ministers of
\nDefence, Interior, Justice, Minister of State Budget and Planning, Chief
\nof Defense Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of
\nAir Staff, Inspector General of Police, Governors of Borno, Adamawa and
\nYobe states, Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence
\nCorps, Comptroller General, Nigeria Customs Service, United Nations
\nResident Coordinator, Permanent Secretary, FMHADMSD (Secretariat),
\nChairman, Non-Governmental Organization Forum, and any other nominated
\nby Chairman of the Committee.<\/p>\n
His Excellency, the Vice President, will inaugurate the NHCC in due
\ncourse.<\/p>\n
